I define indie music as non-RIAA label artists for the most part. RIAA Radar being a good site to check this. Although, bugger all, it appears the site is not working right now.

Anyway, here are the indie artists I have been listening to lately.

Sunset Rubdown, absolutely my favorite band so far this year. Make sure to check out the free Daytrotter songs.

Tapes 'N Tapes, from my home town of Minneapolis. Good old fashion indie rock. The Cokemachineglow review has songs for download.

Band of Horses is another great indie rock band. They have songs for download on their site.

Islands, these guys are happly dark. The band is made up of left overs from the now defunct Unicorns.

Beirut, strangely enough a Balkan themed album from a guy from New Mexico. Haunting music, this guy has an amazing voice. They have songs for download as well.

The Figurines, a crazy Danish pop act. They are highly contagous. Check them out, they have mp3s on their site.

This is collection of new stuff that I got addicted to so far this year.

I think the electric car was killed for a variety of reasons including inefficiency and the difficulty of disposing of the batteries in an enviormentally friendly manor. Oh and the oil lobby.

Anyone here listen to Asian Kung Fu Generation ?

They have some really good music. They also played opening music for Naruto. Their music is like a pop, punk, alternative, rock conglomerate.
