Take 1lb of coffee, grind it to a coarse grind, significantly more than you would for brewing in a normal coffee maker. Put it in a bucket, or other large tub or jug and add 8 cups of water to it. Cover and let it soak somewhere at room temperature for at least 16 but no more than 24 hours. Strain it into a seperate container. From there fill a tall glass with ice, add 2 shots of that liquid, sugar to taste, and top with Milk, or water depending.

The use of cold water keeps a lot of the acids you find in the bean from breaking down, so this method, unlike what most places do (brewing it hot then refrigerating) keeps the extract from going bitter on you for 2 to 3 weeks rather than coming out bitter.

I always thought the best way to have better tasting iced coffee was to fish all the ice out and then heat it up.

All joking aside, that's really interesting. Thanks for the tip.

And for the record, simple syrup is better in it than sugar

1 part water
1 part sugar

boiled together into a syrup.

Simple syrup kicks ass. It is also indispensible in the making of fine cocktails.

Interesting. My version of iced coffee has me pulling a shot of espresso, downing it, then sipping a glass of ice water. But seriously, how would this go in making coffee liquor?

Simple syrup is also great for making lemonade (like, with lemons) on the fly and the absolute best for sweetening iced tea. I always keep a bottle in the fridge.

I'm a fan of the condensed milk in my ice coffee.

of course, I only have access to it at the local vietnamese place, for I have no grinder.
