yes the title of the thread is a bit over the top, but I'm a big believer in due process to begin with and even "quasi-legal" approaches to screening gatherings are pretty gutless PR in my humble opinion.

You can still edit, you know. From "Wake Up" by Rage Against The Machine, possibly they're quoting something else: "Through counter-intelligence it has been possible to identify potential trouble-makers and neutralize them." America hasn't been the land of the free since europe too jumped on that "democracy"-bandwagon. Not that I state that the power is currently in the hands of the general public, as should be the defintion of a democracy, but hey atleast we don't have large archives of "troublemakers" as we had in the 60's and 70's.

Someone ought to tell tinfoil hat dude that wearing the tin foil on top of his head only insures protection from sattelite-based mind-control devices. Directional attenaes can be employed to beam the waves directly into his face. 
I remember something about people being required to sign loyalty oaths before being admitted into a Bush speech, pretty sure on TDS, there was a typo, and all laughed.

Personally, I think it's a dumb practice - regardless of political party. All it gets you is some bad press which increases awareness of protesters.
