This seems oddly prosaic for Sinfest.

Yeah, any decent multiplanar lawyer would get Slick out of that one. But the Devil's threat seems oddly light - what's broken legs to an eternity of damnation?

I believe the Devil is saying he will break Slick's legs over and over again for all eternity ("infinity times"). I don't think I'd call that threat a light one.

Whats really weird is that my old history teacher described hell as getting your legs broken over and over and the pain never fading.

Now the question is, what exactly does "heavenly protection" constitute?

Oh, right. I missed the connection between broken legs and "infinity times" because they were in separate bubbles. Still, wouldn't eternal damnation entail something like that anyway?

Sure, but it's fun to have specifics as to how you will be made to spend all eternity in agony.
