Brief: Sticker's Sarcoma, a transmissible tumor-causing disease in dogs, may actually be a mutated form of cancer cells from a specific dog that acquired the ability to live outside its original host body and infect other dogs. In doing so, it may have jumped across entire phyla and become a new species unto itself. This is similar to the case of HeLa cells, except that it happened centuries ago in the wild.
