Awwww, you don't need to be divine to be a prophet... it's so easy, even L. Ron Hubbard became one!

Oh, you mean true prophets... with the miracles and word of god and stuff? I haven't run across one yet in history, just cult leaders whose message happened to catch on enough with enough people to form a self-sustaining organization dedicated to worshipping the leader, and whatever god he claims to have discovered/invented.

Jesus, picking on christians is addicting... someone make it stop!

Wow. You managed to completely contradict yourself within just two lines of posting. What makes a prophet is prophecy, not miracles.

All I'm saying is that people tend to misinterupt religion. Like whenever a person is said to have spoken to any god in general, violence ensues because conflicting idealogies tend to occur.

For example, if another so called prophet of ANY religion comes around in the near future.

Say, Robot Jesus.

We will most likely have another "holy war" but in a Terminator future setting, because some people will believe that Robot Jesus was meant to guide the robots into paradise and others won't believe.

I like the "most likely". Yes, most likely that would be the outcome.

Most likely, the next person to achieve the status of a Jesus or Buddha will do so through multimedia indoctrination, wide-spread use of behavior modifiaction drugs, the promise of satisfaction of material desires, the manipulation of peer pressure, and selective killing of dissidents.

Oh and in addition to the Terminator-like setting in that possible future, we'll also have robots with the crucifix ingraved or spraypainted on their asses.

Rather then say who is right, I'd like to say that I think the religions are in fact very different. Different right to the fundamentals of their faith.

Each has a totally unique way to reach God.

I would agree with Tycho here, but at the same time the notion of "right" as there being one version of definite truth, or a final foundational reality is what's hampering us here. Perhaps a more fruitful way to look at it is to look at the ways different religions relate to this idea of "right". Bahaism (correct me if I'm wrong) has as an integral part of its doctrine an openness to revision of its beliefs.

kekekeke, I was making the distinction between your everyday prophets, and prophets that go on to be central figures in a religion, especially Christianity, and Judaism, I don't know how it works with Islam.

Funny how in each of the major Judaic religions, killin' is a bit no-no. And yet they all seem to do a bunch of it and justify it as God's Will. Err? I guess I come down on the 'all wrong' side.

In the end, I don't care. I try to live life right. I try to be nice to other people. I do my best not to overuse the world in live it. I'll try not to get involved with the relgious wars. I hope it's enough if the whole God thing turns out to be the real deal.

I look forward to having a cup of joe with the Big Guy. We'll have a long talk. I might take a swing at Him. Who knows?

Psssssssh. Everyone knows God doesn't exist. He's just like Santa- a ruse created to keep you in line, so your immortal soul doesn't get a brick of coal jammed up it's stalking.
