I watch House and The Office and download the new episode of Dexter each week. Other than that most of my tv watching is done at randomly over the internet, but I will be watching Lost when it starts back up in January and I'm going to love it, even if the show continues its trend of getting progressively worse with each season.

If you're outside the US, the streams don't work properly. I tried to watch Metalocalypse (sp?) that way.

What's the story on this show Blackadder? I just received a recommendation for it (primarily because I mentioned House as a show I liked to which he responded something like "Oh Hugh Laurie is such a disappointment in that." And then mentioned this show as a better example of his talent) and was just wondering if it's worth throwing on Netflix.

yes, you should get it. though I can't imagine anyone thinking Hugh Laurie is a disappointment in House if they give it half a chance.

It's one of the quintessential British sitcoms. I'm personally not a fan, but nearly everyone else is. I'd certainly not recommend series one as a starting point though. The rest of the shows are very different in their characterisations. I'd suggest the Regency era Series III.

I always thought Hugh Laurie was better in House. But yeah Blackadder is brilliant although season 1 sucks.

well thanks much, I'll definitely put a season in my queue. I also think House is great and I doubt this is going to change my opinion... but I guess you never know.

Jeeves and Wooster is another, albeit rather different, example of Hugh Laurie being amusing. I have eclectic tastes

Watch Blackadder, starting at season 2. That goes for all of you.

Also, A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Because, not only does it have Hugh Laurie, but it also has, and I bet you didn't see this one coming, Stephen Fry.

WIN.

Also, it's worth pointing out that House does have three good things going for it: Hugh Laurie, and Cuddy's breasts.

*hasty edit*

A grammatical error on my part meant I attributed a breast to Hugh Laurie.

i'd vote for jeeves and wooster, myself, since it has laurie, fry, and the insanity of p.g. wodehouse.

actually, that was the bulk of my exposure to laurie prior to house; it took me quite a while to get over expecting him to be a comic character in that.

brian blessed, on the other hand, i first saw in "i, claudius" - which means i'm always surprised that he and derek jacobi aren't older than they are.
