You're jumping to conclusions here assuming racism, maybe she was just staring/asked if you were in a relationship because you are utterly hideous and your girlfriend shockingly out of your league. Or vice versa.
Or to take you more seriously than anything about you credits, if an old lady being curious about your relationship is the most extreme example of racism you've ever encountered, you live in some sort of bizarre bubble world. No, racism was not abolished in 1959.
