I will admit that a parent's job has gotten harder in this day and age. At least it has insofar as controlling access to information. However, having said that, it is still an individual set of parent's responsibility to look after the welfare of their own children and know what they are up to.

In a way having a whole lot of misinformation out there is conducive to healthy discussions and getting particularly pernicious ideas out in the open to be discussed.

In some countries hate speech is illegal (I believe canada is one of them). It's generally viewed in the same light that we in the States view yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre. However, in this country hate speech is not illegal (however much the politically correct would like it to be so). To me this represents a rather good thing. It's not that I feel there is anything good in what racists and others spout in their hate filled diatribes, so much as that a debate held in the light of day gives one the opportunity to refute it. When they are driven into the dark corners to spew their poisons at the young without the anyone else being the wiser, such beliefs can much more easily take root and thrive as ugly little secrets are wont to do. Nah, let them make fools of themselves nice and publically. That way I can sit down with my kids and explain why they're such ridiculously ignorant morons.
