I don't think I make topics often... so deal with it.
I've been watching a lot of stand-up comedy specials lately (I'm a big fan of stand-up comedy) because there's a lot of it on Netflix.
Who are some of your favorite comedians? I'm a fan of the old school. I love Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Sam Kinison (RIP), etc. I'm also a fan of the weird one liner folks like Steven Wright (classic) or Mitch Hedberg (RIP). I like the stand-up comedians that mix their comedy with their preaching of how idiotic the world is like Bill Hicks (RIP) and Doug Stanhope. I love all types of comedians.
Who are your favorites? I like learning about new comedians. Post up some videos of their funny bits on here so I/we can check 'em out.
Here is a favorite bit of mine from an old classic of Sam Kinison:

I love Mitch and steven's one liners.
Brian Regan has this really good bit
I came across this guy recently, Ross Noble, and this is good improv comedy
I love stand up comedy.
Then there Eddie Izzard, Mike Birbiglia has a few good bits. Oh I can't remember the others, but I'll let you know. _________________ Tsosm! Hydrogen fuel and Grumpy Cat coffee |

You've covered the two bigguns, Carlin and Pryor. To add:
Louie CK (best comedian out there right now by my estimation)
Eddie Izzard
Dick Gregory (oooooooold school, but fantastic)
Dennis Leary
Jim Gaffigan
Robin Williams (dude was wasted on movies, his stand up is dynamite)
Eddie Murphy (same as Williams)
Christopher Titus
Patton Oswalt
Robert Shimmel
Ellen Degeneres
Craig Ferguson
John Pinette
I know I'll think of others later. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

People's who's stand up everyone forgets they used to love:
Adam Sandler
Jim Carey
I'll post more links in a few. Also, Netflix has a TON of comedy stand-up stuff on instant. _________________ ...if a single leaf holds the eye, it will be as if the remaining leaves were not there.

I like Lewis Black quite a bit. He came to my college in Wisconsin for a show in the middle of a snowstorm. Needless to say, he had a lot to say about the snow. _________________ Eureka00: "Reminding you of your addictions" since 1982. |

Is this restricted to stand up or what? Because if not let me thumb you into Peter Serafinowicz's show (you do know him, he was Darth Maul's voice):
The Butterfield Diet Plan
BONBONBONBONS!
If we're talking just stand up there are two absoloute masters and veterans in the UK at the moment:
Daniel Kitson: at Melbourne
Stewart Lee: Oh them Muslims
I just chose pretty much the top links for those guys, so confident am I in the powers of their comedy (and also of people on youtube not choosing total shit).
Honourable mention for my one time near-neighbour and toilet-roll requester Johnny Vegas. Watch all his stuff. All of it. |

Martian, Ross Noble is indeed awesome, I have his three disc Australian tour. It deserves three discs because the guy is the only one I know who doesn't seem to actually have an act prepared. He genuinely does just stand up and mouth off and produce weirdness of an Izzard-like nature, but without the rehearsal of Izzard. Which means that he can go for long stretches (ie, five minutes) without getting a laugh but when he does score it's a properly organically grown belly laugh.
Tim Minchin is also awesome, but if it comes to music lead comedy Bill Bailey and Flight Of The Conchords have him beat. No disrespect to the ginger fellow though. |
