You know I love this, but what I don't love is that Kinison was getting laughs on his work up. Applause before he'd even gotten into the joke. I guess maybe the audience were familiar with where this was going (which wasn't an amazing leap of thought but was well done) or because the audience were total tools. |

Hahah, that's so true though.
Here's a good one of George Carlin talking about consumerism and advertising: http://youtu.be/RW2JInyMoPc |

I went thru a big comedy phase in my teens. Carlin (old, 80's, recent), Cosby (60's, 80s), Dangerfield, Emo Phillips, Steve Martin, Sam Kinison, Robin Williams at the Met, Howie Mandel ... more recently, Eugene Mirman, Patton Oswalt, Lewis Black, Brian Regan, but I make no effort to seek out comedians anymore. I have Lenny Bruce in my collection, but I got those for free from eMusic (back when their plan was better), he doesn't do much for me. Sadly, I only knew Richard Pryor from a string of terrible movies he did in the 80s, so didn't listen to ANY of his standup until a few years ago. (yes I know most of these were already mentioned) |

I love this bit, actually he's the last comic I watched that I had to pause at times because I was laughing too hard. |

Tim Minchin is also awesome, but if it comes to music lead comedy Bill Bailey and Flight Of The Conchords have him beat. No disrespect to the ginger fellow though. |
I first came across bill baily in that one brit show, black books...and while the show had its moments, I didn't think much of the guy. His stand up is much better than the show. And he's a funny guy. Dylan Moran (the other guy from the show) has also solid stand up, but a bit too run of the mill for my tastes.
No youtube links in this post, I am at work it's blocked there. I can't wait to get home to check Snorri's links, I always like to hear non Anglocentric humor. _________________ Tsosm! Hydrogen fuel and Grumpy Cat coffee |

Martian, I've got most of the DVDs for both guys; I used to love Dylan Moran when his stand up was a bit looser but now most of his act is on more traditional topics like raising a family etc. Still funny mind.
Are we giving any love to Louis CK? |

I love this thread!
Pinette bit is awesome.
I didn't get the jokes snorri...mostly cause I don't understand the language. But their intonation indicated they were two funny guys.
Oh how about this lost gem...Henry Rollins _________________ Tsosm! Hydrogen fuel and Grumpy Cat coffee |

I've only seen one of Dara O Brien's shows but I am overwhelmed by it. His interaction with the audience is loving, never degrading or going for easy laughs and he seems to take a general interest. Warm like Disney only funny.
Strike that, he's not at all like disney :p
And the bits he _did_ prepare are top notch |
