Where? I think I missed that one. |
If it's the one I am thinking of it's this one. the whole series is worth a read. It gets a bit hokey towards the end, but the first 3 or 4 are awesomely creepy. _________________ I have a face, with a mustache.

I think the oldest house I've ever been in was only 100 years old.
Heh. Winters are not nice to houses here. _________________ Samsally the GrayAce |

I'm just gonna copy/paste the email exchange I just had with my girlfriend.

I had a really weird dream. It's hard to describe but freaked me out. It was set in an old west strip town thing like you saw in movies where everything is along a main road. Everything looked like it was on one side of the road because I was viewing it as if it was on TV, with the camera slowly panning along side of it. Everything was antiquey looking, not quite film grain but had the weird muted coloring, almost a sepia filter I suppose. Anyway, at the end of the road was sign with a warning. it said something to the effect of "Stop. Beyond here an auditory warning is in effect. Do not approach"
Well, dream Joey was having none of that. The view panned a bit and the scene shifted as if the "camera" took a 90 degree turn to face what was off to the right. It was just a house on a hill, slightly in the distance. The bad part was the sound though. It was the TV sound I can hear, but amplified a hundred times. It was like none stop nails on a chalkboard. I couldn't stop it and doubled over in pain. It was so loud that it felt like someone was blowing in my ears, or kind of like the pressure when you go too deep underwater.
That's when I woke up with a ringing in my ear. You had came to bed and went to sleep, I think you were still falling a sleep though. It was really strange, kind of frightening. |

well that's freaky
i was reading legends last night, when i couldn't sleep.
the intro story by stephen king, did you read it?
because it was about a guy who enters a small old westerny town.
everything is dusty and old, there are saloon doors and stuff. everything was covered with a film of dust/dirt.
he follows the road, and as he does he is hearing this really unsettling noise.
it's not loud like your dream, but he focuses on it because it's the only noise he hears. |
Mind you, I was in bed and she was reading in the living room. _________________ I have a face, with a mustache.

I lol'ed. To be fair, in some of the older colonial towns you can find buildings from the late-1600's and on. In the Southwest there are Spanish mission buildings from the early to mid-1600's. It's funny to be in the PNW and Inter-Mountain West where people talk about "really old" buildings that were built 120 years ago. _________________ "Whatever afflicts thee, their asses I shall kick"
