Another problem is that press coverage doesn't exactly make it clear that this is a whole new fictional Universe they're talking about. I've seen plenty of people objecting to the idea of making an "existing" character gay and saying they should have just made a new gay character. They don't know that for all intents and purposes it's NOT an existing character anymore.
It's like when the Joker killed Jason-Todd- Robin, and people reading the press coverage thought hey killed Dick-Grayson-Robin (really more like Burt-Ward-Robin) and flooded DC with angry phone calls.

I read the Minutemen #1. it was okay. I probably would not have bothered except for it being Darwyn Cooke (whose style I find is pretty cool).

Haven't got much feeling one way or another. It seems unnecessary.

Honestly I don't know what to think about the whole thing. I couldn't give less of a shit about Alan Moore's ramblings if I tried. In fact I find his whole stance on the issue a little petty and more than a little hypocritical. At the same time this is obviously a cash grab on DC's part. I respect a fair bit of the talent they've brought in to not completely shit the whole thing up but that's not really a ringing endorsement. Really the best I can give the whole thing is a disinterested shrug. I doubt I'll read it but I don't really have the fire in my bones to actively hate it either.

My supply was cut off and is not going to restart at that store.

SOOO off to Vintage Stock to start a new file and get my back issues. I talked to the manager and the comic book helpers and everyone was cool even though I was a lone girl (this is my measuring stick for if a store is going to get my business - if I am by myself, are they going to be weird about it _before_ I tell them how many titles I pick up).

I will be getting new issues promptly. Yay!

But now I have to work through my backlog of reading. I had been holding off due to missing issues but that won't be a problem much longer. So watching Olympics and reading comics.

Is there anything people are interested in that I can talk about? I am most excited about picking Unwritten, Fables, and Locke and Key back up.

Re Before Watchmen - I have decided to wait for trades to see if they are any good. I will certainly be looking at Rorschach.

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this sentiment, but TDKR was a damn fine movie, and in fact better than its predecessor, despite my affinity for Tom Waits parody.
