Actually I fully believe the novel continuity will be broken. Seems the most likely option, really. I'm sorta okay with that. I mean, I already pick and choose my canon, so... really the only worry is that it makes future books worse.

The fanboys by and large don't care anymore. The rage is confined to sperglords who rage about fucking anything anyway, but they're safely disregardable in the first place.
For everyone else, the pertinent fanboy thought on the matter is that there's really nothing to lose with this transition. Disney could just 1. continue murdering the franchise as utterly as Lucas was, or they might 2. make a decent new star wars movie or show or something and breathe some life into the IP. The only thing that's changed is that there's now a chance of improvement. That's pretty much it. |

| christ almighty, the novel continuity is such a mess that overturning it would be an act of mercy. |

Worst case, we get this:
Here's hoping that someone like John Lasseter is given the reigns.

My first thought on hearing this news is that this ensures that Star Wars will never, ever pass into the public domain.
My second is that maybe now it will be possible to buy a DVD version of the original trilogy that doesn't include the later perversions (Han shot first, etc.) If that is all that is one of the things that comes of this, the rest will be worth it.

| Any scientists might want to take advantage of the temporary Open Access spree from the Royal Society. Until the 29th of November, all their journals are OA. As in free to download. |

Yeah, they talk about it relatively a lot here. It was even a question at trivia one night. One theory is that it's related to a less-deadly disease found in European bats and the fungus may have hitched a ride on a traveller. Fungi on a plane. Then it turned into a rabbits-in-Australia type of situation. I don't know if that's true, but I know the universities out here spend a lot of time and money monitoring local bat populations to see if white nose has crossed over the Rocky Mountains. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. The leaves are turning, the weather is getting colder. There's only one thing left to do. Get gay married and smoke some weed.

You can't get gay married now?
Seems pretty backwards to me. _________________ Scire aliquid laus est, pudor est non discere velle

It's true, it is pretty backward, but we're working on it! We (along with possibly Maine and Maryland) will be the first state(s) to have passed it at the ballot box, rather than via the courts or legislature, which is kind of cool and also kind of backward (no one voted on my right to wed). Still, I'll be happy to live in a state where people have the right to marry the person they love.
The pot thing doesn't mean much, although it's arguably just as unique (if less important). We'll be the first state to vote to fully legalize marijuana, too. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. Colorado, Oregon and Washington state all have legalization initiatives on their ballots this year. I hope they all pass, but I doubt it would stop the federal government from prosecuting legal establishments. CA has had many perfectly legal medical marijuana facilities raided by the DEA since medical marijuana became legal there, both under Bush and Obama. |
