Still waiting to find out if we approved gay marriage. It's fucking close! 600,000 odd ballots left to count. 1.9 million counted. 42 to 58% in favor so far. This might mean more to me than the Presidency (because it's so fucking backward that gay people can't marry).

But we're apparently legalizing marijuana, so there's that.

Also, Allen West was defeated, which is good. That guy needs help. (He's the one that said the House had 80 elected communists, and that Obama wanted to make people slaves).

Michele Bachmann, damn her eyes, plucked victory from the jaws of defeat. She deserved to fail. She was polling really well, and then it looked like Graves might unseat her, and then she snatched it.

Paul Ryan kept his seat... saw that coming, though.

Elizabeth Warren won, which is awesome... or could be awesome... I'd like to see her become the new Russ Feingold. We'll see.

Tammy Baldwin, the first openly gay senator, was elected. That's great news for the people of Wisconsin. Maybe she'll be the next Feingold (she's even from the same state!).

It's been a mixed bag for me, folks.

That said, Obama was disappointing internationally during his first tenure, I'm not putting much stock into the next four years.

just 'cuz they held on to the House doesn't mean this was anything but an absolute disaster for the GOP. their share of the not-white-men vote dropped again. they lost their chance at flipping the Senate because they nominated horrible little troglodytes who were too evil even for the likes of Missouri and Indiana. they lost on these ballot measures. and most importantly, all their voter suppression efforts failed.

and yet unemployment was over 8% for most of this election cycle, the incumbent's signature legislative accomplishment is unpopular, and the Republicans think Obama is the Antichrist. this election was theirs to lose, and, well, they lost it.

oh, to be a fly on the wall at the RNC...

also, Prop 30 passed in California, which is a huge relief to me, because if it had failed my tuition would have spiked to the tune of $2500

I'm trying to keep up with the popular vote (mostly because Trump is an idiot and brought it to my attention). It's close there, right now the difference is only about 2 million in favor of Obama. Not as close as the 2000 election, but closer than 2004 and 2008.
