The fact that someone is frustrated may be a mitigating factor among close associates and family, but among near strangers and strangers? Who fucking cares if they're frustrated? True. It is not appropriate behavior. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, I think they are more frustrated with themselves; and when people are frustrated with circumstances that appear beyond their control the first thing they do is shift the blame. You cannot change anything about anyone; the only one you can change is yourself.
It's far easier to blame things than to fix them, to quote a brilliant six-year old.

I, like presumably everyone else in the entire world, spent a lot of my teens in the fabled friend zone, but rather than becoming bitter I was just really happy that I had so many great lady friends and eventually, through those friendships found enough confidence in myself to start dating and eventually find love, all without having to become TV's The Mentalist, like that douchebag book salesman up there.
I think it is not the friendzone itself that is bad, it is the whinging and bitterness about the friendzone.
And yes it happens to women as well as men, but I would posit that the major ratio of bitching is coming from men. I have no graphs for that. I just feel it in my waters. |

The pre-teen section could possibly fall into child porn, if it indeed featured child porn. There is a pre-requisite in order for pictures of children to fall into the category of child porn and that is a) naked and b) in a "sensual" situation (modeling, or plain pornographic) The latter being obvious (maybe not modeling, but in porn), if the requisite for child porn were only that they were naked, then one of my favourite movies has child porn in it. (It's Grave of the Fireflies.) In which case, a lot of the early animated features from Miyazaki would most certainly be banned from the shelves. Ever seen a coworker have a picture of their sons or daughters (in early childhood) playing in the bathtub naked (as an example), stood proudly on their work desk? Child porn? So let's take that logic and apply it to the subreddits that were closed down. Jailbait, for instance. As we all know (or didn't you? Here's a reminder:), jailbait means someone who is "younger than the legal age of consent for sexual activity, but physically mature enough to be mistaken for an adult." So fourteen to sixteen, depending on where you live. And even so, they don't feature nudity (or most of them didn't, I didn't check that closely), simply suggestive poses, which as we've already concluded does not alone fill the requisite for child porn. So considering that the majority of the subreddits had jailbait in the title, and one called "nudistbeach" (which I suppose is borderline), other than the genuine child porn that was on there which I do not object to getting removed one iota, do you still think it was child porn?

Sure. I'd love to, sadly I've been struck with the unfortunate accusation that I defend child porn. You will understand why I can't just let that slide, I'm sure. It would also help if everytime it starts, we didn't have stuff like this:

Man, this forum is funnier than the strip most of the time.
Concerning friendzone shenanigans: Yeah, it's a shitty concept that come from stupid sexist assumptions on men's part. But it's understandable (not that it should be tolerated, but it's understandable enough as to not condemn the person carrying the huge "FRIENDZONED" banner to lifelong exile in Whiny Douchebag Country) when it comes from the kind of shy, lonely, angry teenagers and young men that it usually comes from.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that... Don't be so hard on the guys who think the "friendzone" exists. Much more frequently it is understanding and a good talk that puts people on the right track, not "making people suffer until they change their ways". Inflicting great suffering on many people (me included) is just an easy way to "break" them and force them into weird places (mentally) where they refuse to accept a lot of themselves.
They may change through suffering, but they will be changing through the infliction of mental trauma. |
