Rock music is bourne out of country, jazz, folk, R&B and jump blues and gospel music. You woldn't have "rock" of any kind without country music, and many punk and alternative performers have elements of country music in their work.
Rap is hundreds of years old and was an element of early blues music, developing into a genre of its own starting in the 70's when record producers started to take notice of streetcorner kids doing it for fun.

I was listening to one of those top 10 lists, and it was the top 10 worst country songs. Taylor Swift was on it (that "we are never, ever getting back together" song), Achey Breaky Heart was on it, but this was the number 1. It was a solid list.
