No you said that he went to prove the relationship was real. Nothing shows he was doing anything but trying to make curly wrong. Making the relationship real isn't shown anywhere, nor does it show that he felt he was in anything but on the receiving end of fake ,simulation of love, nor does making it real is the only way to make curley wrong . No proof.

curly says relationship is fake
slick sets out to prove that it is real
if slick succeeds, then the relationship is real
if the relationship is real, the relationship is not fake
if the relationship is not fake, then curly is wrong

You don't actually have to be right to prove someone else wrong, ever here of fallowing the letter of the law, not the spirit. I'm saying he just went through the motions to prove here wrong, you think he was trying to make the relationship real.
