Earlier tweets on her account suggest she was looking forward to it as well. But that's only speculation on my part, anyways.

yeah so I don't really watch this show, I was putting it off for fear of getting hooked, but I gave in a few months ago and tried to get through the two part pilot and couldn't really get into it. I am on the internet, however, so I've had plenty of exposure and was surprised to hear distress over everyone assuming that rainbow dash is gay. Like I said, I don't watch the show, but it never occurred to me to think she wasn't a lesbian. Is there a consensus? I thought it was great that there was a gay character on an ostensibly children's show. Was I wrong?

Also, I saw this somewhere and while I don't watch ponies, I did watch rainbow brite growing up.

they've...never really done anything involving Rainbow Dash and romance

i think that was mostly because of people attributing the whole "butch" stereotype to her

We don't know anything about any of the ponies' sexualities (...except maybe ponies who are married in the show --parents, and Spike via his crush on Rarity, and maybe Rarity via her obsession with finding prince charming). Any claims otherwise are based either on stereotyping or crack shipping.

so really, insisting that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian is kind of the opposite of progressive

there is only one valid argument that can be made here

like I said, don't watch the show, only know what I come across on the internet (and yes I guess I was stereotyping sexual orientation based on gender portrayal) but it was in a "good for you, show" sort of attitude.
