Yeah, I don't know anything about business, but it does seem inefficient to bring in new people every 12 months. Not only will she have to get back into her groove after 100 days off, but how much groove does the person that replaced her for 100 days have while they're there? It seems like you'd have 100+ days of low productivity every year(ish). On top of all the regular mondays, days after holidays, sick days, and every other day that has low productivity. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. to say nothing of the expense of training someone who doesn't work out - so to replace one experienced person for 100 days, you may have to try out 2 or 3 people.
ah well, i guess this is why i am not a billionaire capitalist. _________________ aka: neverscared!

I enjoyed my first week in my job. It's a lot to deal with, but I'm feeling good about it. If you don't think that's a big thing, you should read some of my posts from about 5 months ago
And I just bought a pair of mini lop-eared bunnies.
FOR DINNER.
Ok not for dinner. |

Mr. Mustache might appreciate this.
Bill gates just did AMA on redditt, for those not 'in the know' it's basically a Q&A session between Gates and reddit users. One of the questions was what was Bill's greatest fear
He answered:
Bill Gates wrote: |
Hopefully we won't have terrorists using nuclear weapons or biological weapons. We should make sure that stays hard.
I am disappointed more isn't being done to reduce carbon emissions. Governments need to spend more on basic energy R&D to make sure we get cheap non-CO2 emitting sources as soon as possible.
Overall I am pretty optimistic. Things are a lot better than they were 200 years ago..
|
And the first reply to that...

That's what she said.

It made my day. Nothing against Gates, he actually seems like a decent guy. _________________ Tsosm! Hydrogen fuel and Grumpy Cat coffee |

Dragging myself out of my slump. Did some Cardio this morning and doing hot yoga tonight. I have to get back down to my fighting Dating weight. And it is time to start taking better care of myself and feeling better all around. |

Went to get a hair cut last night. I get there and was checking in with the front desk and they say "hair cut and massage."
"No that's not right, just a hair cut."
"your wife called earlier and ordered the massage, also paid for it."
My wife is awesome.
The girl also threw in a hot shave with the disclaimer she was still new to it. no cuts! |

So like I say, at new job today, it's been like my fourth day involved. Working at one pub whilst we wait for the new pub to be finished. So, two pleasures today:
+ after interviews (see mixed bag thread) I was handed all the 'Yes' pile and a blank schedule and told to sort the rota: actually doing something that makes me feel like I've got major input here
+ found out that the hot waitress / bar tender I'm going to be working with most of the time is a lesbian and has a good sense of humour |
