When my brother's youngest was born, his big brother, (3years old at the time), started calling him 'Clint' from the day he was born. His dad kept telling big brother, "His name is Chance, not Clint."
To which big brother replied,"No dad, Clint is his code name."
Like GI Joes, everyone has a code name.
We still call him Clint to today and he's 21 years old. |

Actually, this could be a good thing. This could mean that Slick has finally gotten over his crush on Nique, and start some character growth.
The sad part is that it apparently implies that when Slick isn't attracted to her anymore he doesn't enjoy spending time with her so much as he used to do, and that's a pity, because they used to be really good friends who were always joking and having fun.
Slick needs somebody he can joke and fight with, and Nique has gone beyond that. |

Not to minimize the rest of your post, but this stood out to me. I'm torn on the whole "should Xanthe develop as a character or have romantic interests" issue. On one hand, I agree with everything you said. On the other hand, Xanthe and her crew stand apart from the rest of the cast for the reason you stated here.
The Sisterhood represents a movement, and let's face it, Xanthe is the face of the Sisterhood. Maybe Xanthe is supposed to be that unshakeable pillar of truth, doling out ideological beatdowns to butthurt mansplainers everywhere. (Her trike runs on dudebro tears after all). Tat could feel that her mystique contributes to her purpose, so he doesn't want to give her extra character traits. Xanthe's mere presence gets the audience talking about feminism, rather than her favorite sports team.
In a way, she is a really small-scale version of Superman: she is an ideal we can aspire to, not a reflection of who we are.

Except there's too many arguments that Xanthe is NOT necessarily that ideal. She's divisive and one-sided, and most of her ideology is of the "You either agree with what *I* say or you're wrong and there's no middle ground," mentality. |

that doesn't mean she's "not an ideal," it means she represents an ideal that you rejected. which has different implications. |

Totally unrelated, but have you have ever heard of a show called 'Manswers'? A friend of mine recommended it to me, but I thought he meant 'Mancers'... you know, like wizards? Pyromancers and such? So I was really excited to see the show. Needless to say I was disappointed. |

Ronald:
I think of moments like this:
http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=3981
Wish I could find the follow-up, where Slick tries to help 'Nique when she's feeling down about herself by reminding her she literally went into hell for him and how much that means to him. |

ShadowCell covered it already, but yeah. I'm saying she represents an ideal.
Although, I'd argue that ideal is the middle ground, since she's fighting for choice. That's for another thread though.

I've never heard of it, but I agree that a show about wizards would have been so badass. |

Like a wizard version of the Planeteers? A fire wizard, a water wizard, an earth wizard, a wind wizard, and... a still useless heart wizard. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. The discussion about the lameness of heart never has in consideration that fire as used by that redhead idiot is just a flamethrower but without all of the coolness that carrying one inspires. So yeah, fire is the lamest power. _________________ Welcome to Sinfest, the only place with a 46 pages long thread about sentient toasters
