All of those things are not what I would call "overly idealistic".

There are a lot of words for it, but those don't fit for me.

But like, don't get me wrong, we all agree that PETA is the worst.

Holy... crap... it looks like the police (well, San Bernadino sheriff's department) burned Chris Dorner alive. They chased him to a cabin, and then set it on fire. Recorded audio confirms they stopped firefighting orces from putting out the fire until the cabin was razed to the ground.

There's also a longer one I haven't gotten a chance to listen to, yet. Regardless... there's enough to strongly suggest, at least, that "burn him out" was the desired strategy. Conspiracy theorists are going to have even more of a field day with this than they already were with the drone-based manhunt, the $1,000,000 reward, and the two random asian women lapd gunned down, rather than trying to arrest.
