"doki doki" is an onomatopeia for heartbeat
an example of its usage in "western" media: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqtuYpDRC4Q

I have a rebuttal to this comic:
Itō Ittōsai, you are one mean looking mother fucker. _________________

The style you're referring to where feminine features are applied to male characters is bishonen aka 'pretty boy' and usually uses shoujo-manga artstyle with long-lashed eyes and long hair and light feminine body-shape in order to supposedly be more attractive to women. I'm not sure why, it just is. |

AH. ok, yeah never read that style of manga before, I've mostly fallowed Oran Highschool Host Club (that my be that style, but wasn't drawn like squig here), Soul Eater, Haruhi Suzumia, and Black Lagoon. _________________ The misogynistic autistic fapping goldfish. |

| The style's weird. I've seen a parody manga where the eyelashes suspended a comb in the air from sheer thickness. |

Lol Ouran technically is shonen/shoujo manga/anime. It's just one of the more well known ones. Infact the host club themselves are a parody of most kinds of fandoms in shoujo anime and manga. Tamaki Suoh is the beautiful elegant bishonen type (but painfully stupid also, but thats why we love him, because he's an idiot). The twins too are probably bishonen types (not to mention playing at the whole yaoi/shonen-ai scene) and Haruhi the main character can also be concidered 'bishonen' of a sort even though she's biologically female because she choses to pretend to be male and thus portrays herself as the type of male that is very feminine and difficult to distinguish from a female. Haruhi Suzumiya is shoujo too, I've not watched the other two though so I can't comment on them.
See he has the typical heart-shaped face, feminine eyes, pretty boy floppy hair, and even the trademark bishonen sparkle.

Soul eater is very shonen, while black Lagoon... its probably what Hellsing would be like if there weren't supernatural characters and instead of being a monster hunting group, they are black market mercenaries. Very Bloody, very violent, still has a way to touch the heartstrings, both figuratively and literally... _________________ The misogynistic autistic fapping goldfish. |
