Oh damn, I didn't see you asked me a question, Darq, sorry about that!

I have not seen it, actually. Google image search tells me it's something I should check out, though!

Well, I figured since it won for costume design, and you sorta know a thing or dozen about that . . .

I'm quite bad at keeping up on movies! I'll look into it, since I do love looking at pretty costumes.

Burton loved it. He just didn't think it was realistic. It certainly was no roots. (which it indeed isn't.)

Literally everyone I've spoken to about the film has had nothing but praise. Criticism in the press and by others seems to miss the point rather a lot.

(I think you're smart in passing though. It is still heavily Tarantino.)

I used to never want to state my opinion for fear that people I respected would disagree and hate me or be a jerk about it.

This conversation has been an eye-opener. If the people I respect aren't assholes, they're gunna be okay with me not liking a director's work.

I guess what I mean is thanks for being cool, everybody.

man not liking movies or directors is such a thing that happens that I don't even get worked up about it any more.

I obviously disagree in that I think Tarantino is awesome, but that's my taste in movies. I totally get why someone wouldn't! As long as what you dislike is actually a true thing (disliking because of being wrong is not cool) I don't see a problem.

I, for example, don't like horror-movies. Just not my thing. I don't think they're bad or any of that, I just don't feel them like other people do.

Oh man, I have one friend who for like, three years straight continually invited me to a horror movie marathon every single friday the 13th. It was super flattering to keep getting invited, but I had to continually explain "I... really don't care for horror..."

I've come to realize there's so few things I do like, and what I do like isn't necessarily because it's -skillful- or anything, it just has the kinds of themes and ideas I like in my entertainment. And that's okay.

I really have no idea where I'm going with this. GROUP HUG EVERYBODY.

I love horror! It is what I watch when I am depressed. But not anything directed by Rob Zombie - he is amazing, amazing!, but the rape overtones (because he said fuck undertones...) are too much for me. Give me straight gore and a good thriller any day.

My Opinion of the 85th Annual Academy Awards: haven't even watched it, the last one i only barely paid attention to and the whole format has burned me out. boy can't wait to read about the worst dressed undeserving hissies in vapid banal celeb culture reporting for literal months, who should be mocked and shamed for wearing last years' autumnals

I am way cooler than you because I have never watched one.

I've no idea, mouse. Maybe someone can illuminate it for us? But I kinda chalked it up to, "Well, I guess people like to watch celebrities get hurt?"

noooo, it's all part of Jennifer Laurence's seeming mission to CHARM THE PANTS of everyone.

She got the Oscar for Best Actress, and on the way up the stairs stacked it and her dress pooled out and it was obvious she was down there doing that 'oh no that did not happen!' laugh and she got up on stage and was hilarious gracious about it. Coupled with pages and pages full of .gifs full of wacky facial expressions, Jack Nicolson trying it on with her, and prior goofball comments she is THOROUGHLY CHARMING.

I am equally charmed by Jennifer Lawrence.

She's just goofy and sweet and seemingly perpetually baffled by her own fame. Plus she refuses to starve herself for a role because she doesn't want little girls that want to be like her to skip meals.

Very slightly NSFW pic of Jennifer Lawrence making a rude gesture.
When it was her turn in the post-Oscars press room, some photographers called out "don't trip!" and she flipped them the bird - and immediately realized what she had done to the sound of many shutters going off. A middle finger may never have been more hilariously adorable.
