Dogen: Looked up 'spherical cow' and got a chuckle from it.

Alright, a bit of a catch-up:

I made a mention about the situation with Mom a while back, and it seems to be alright. We've hashed over points and it is okay. However, she has made a few suggestions of getting me evicted, but I don't think she can without a general letter of eviction from the local courthouse. I just want to know the possible ways she can do this, and what can be done to prevent it and/or make the process smoother for the both of us if she does decide to kick me out.

Heck, in the case of me wanting to get out of the house, what steps I should take to do so?

Depending on state laws, you might have 30 days from your first notice before you can be evicted.

hm. if she's threatening to evict you, it doesn't sound like the conversation went terribly well. hopefully it was an entirely different conversation?

i don't know anything about eviction; i suspect it would be dependent on local laws, but those will also probably focus on landlord-tenant things. usually, i think, they have to give you notice terminating your occupancy; they may have to provide a reason for forcing you out. since you are living with your mom, i doubt you have a formal rent agreement - but if you do (and probably even if you don't) you might see if there are any legal clinics that give free advice on disputes with landlords.

as to moving out - 1) realistically assess your monthly income; 2) find a place that rents for enough less than that that you can still afford food and utilities (which may require also finding a roommate); 3) pack your stuff; 4) go.

unless you are legally bound in some way to where you are living now. moving somewhere else is generally really easy. _finding_ a place to move to - that's usually the hard part.

NWN? NWN2? 2010 or 2011 Air? Are you averse to buying a legit Windows 7 copy and installing it under Bootcamp?

I believe she's talking about the Neverwinter MMO.

You could try Wine, which is specifically designed to run Windows applications in Mac/Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/etc: http://www.winehq.org/

Or run Windows or Linux in VirtualBox/VMware: https://www.virtualbox.org/

No idea if it will run in a Linux environment though so most assured bet would be Win7 running in VirtualBox. But Linux is free and fast to install and set up in a Virtual environment.

The most assured bet is a supported OS on Bootcamp. Virtualbox and a lot of other VM solutions run into problems with Windows games' 3D graphics, especially on non-Windows hosts. Wine may or may not work (or work well). And if it does work it's likely to break later when a new version of Wine comes out.

*edit* That said, it might not even work. The minimum spec page for the NW MMO lists a 2.0GHz dual-core processor. Most base models shipped with CPUs that ran 1.4-1.8GHz (2011 models have TurboBoost, but as I understand it that only kicks in when one core isn't in use).
It might be best to wait and see if it's playable first.

Watching physiology lectures from Duke University with two lecturers so far but everything seems to be in a weird future tense. This is gonna be doing this. This is going to be heading towards this. And this is gonna be useful to do this. Instead of "x is five" they keep saying "and so x is going to be five"

WTF youessians? Is this some kind of teaching aid or is this a normal way to talk?

sounds like it's more a personal speech idiosyncrasy (i. e.: i haven't heard much of anyone talk that way).

call us back when you have a larger n.

I hink you mean, "you're gonna call us back when you have a larger n."

I'm kind of surprised those physiologists are worded about the value of x, though.

Glad you think it's weird too. I guess the first one could be the 2nd one's supervisor or something so she copied her style.

SO here's a question to all who are know software and animation and what not: Is there an alternative to flash? Namely, is there a free alternative?

I know adobe has the whole trial thing, but I'm not quite a fan of adobe, so I'd rather use an alternative if I can.
