My original theory was that she was Sophia the feminine aspect of God, but I guess that's out.

but then one has to wonder why one would have sex with the devil, if not to acquire satanic powers. especially since she does seem to have magical powers, but has never been shown as satanic, or at all evil - so she apparently neither needs nor wants his powers. of course, the devil has always been known for his charm....

But what if she is a Power in her own right? Lilith, after all, is often said to be the mother of the Lilitu--Mesopotamian demons--so it wouldn't be unreasonable to think of her as a goddess or demi-goddess. As such, would it really be all that surprising that she sees the Prince of Hell as an equal with whom she could have a meaningful relationship? It may well be that she's only looking for a peer, not for magical powers bought via a deal with the Devil.

Also you have to factor in that Lilith, particularly as Lamia, has a description akin to that of a gorgon. Also, it's important to note that some scholars believe that both Medusa and Athena, amongst other Greek and Roman deities, were derived from the same neolithic Anatolian earth goddess who had domains over serpents, the the earth, wisdom and a slew of other things, although I don't know if that's where Tat is coming from.

There are A LOT of pop cultural references to this though.

I do know that in a few Final Fantasy games both Lilith and Lamia can petrify characters. Lilitu, the basis of Lilith, was said to kill because her beauty was overwhelming; in One Piece, Boa Hancock (aka the most beautiful woman in the world) aka "snake princess" turns people to stone in the same way.

From what I've noted, Tat loves to combine pop culture with high brow classics.
