They say it because they want to be excused for being rapists - at least the ones who follow that up with statements about how male impulses lead them to rape, and we should just accept it because it is natural.

From reading this thread: 1) I dislike Rothide. 2) I would love to walk through the parking lot of my apartment complex at night without having to be afraid of who is there or what might happen.

I hear you, girlfriend (or guyfriend)! I would love even so much as just one week in which I could walk to my car, to my house, or to work in peace and remain un-harassed. Honestly, the new Sinfest comics have made me start to realize that it's actually pretty sad and not-ok that this is the situation for many women the world over. Up until now I just shrugged and expected it as my lot in life. Definitely my Feminist Utopia Fantasy. Smile

No kidding, just the other day in the middle of the day some creepy drunk guy decided he wanted to shake my hand and then -wouldn't let go-. It just made me so mad, then he asks "Do you like people?"

I told him I don't and then fled into traffic to avoid the fallout.

Almost every time my wife goes shopping w/o me she comes home to tell me about how some creepy guy hit on her or just stared at her. Even if she brings the kids with her and has her wedding band on it doesn't matter.

After work yesterday I made a remark about tips being bad. My boss said "even with those shorts on?" and when I glared at him "come on, I'm just teasing".

Yeah! Every single time I go anywhere. Sometimes, even when I am out with a male friend or a boyfriend, it still happens.
