I just find this character flat, and that her motivation for fighting was forced upon her, not because she observed this behavior firsthand and came to this conclusion. If she did remember the control Slick had over her, fighting against controlling behavior of men could have been a good issue, but instead she witnessed what the Sisterhood wanted shown...

But that could be expected. She was basically a child... "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

(It annoys me I can't find the proper source for this image. Apologies for that.)

Well, that dismissive reply picture to my thoughts was done well enough to bring a smile to my face at least. Thank you for improving my mood.

A man said to the universe:
"Sir, I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
a sense of obligation.

Good, isn't it?

Anyone know who the original artist is? It's become such a meme, I can't track it down. (Trigger warning for anyone who tries an image search: there seem to be a lot of references to the cartoon from vk.com, which looks like an erotic art/porn site.)

Thanks, Yinello! That would explain I saw so many tumblr references for it, too.

Hi everyone Smile

I pretty much nagged Tat to activate an account just to be able to tell you people that this is actually a reference to the lovely Robyn! She made a song called "fembot" which starts exactly with this line: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElgiMmHdNR4

Robyn is close to my heart and actually gave me my first sisterhood feels. She is a Swedish artist, appeared and had a few big bubble gum pop hits in the mid 90's. She was 16 years old, my age, and dressed like me when everyone else on TV didn't. Baywatch was big and so was Beverly Hills... Wink You can find one of her simplistic but nostagia-inducing songs here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSPWt8KF7ZY

What sparked my anger was when a pair of famous, settled, white middle age comedians ridiculed her and did her little dance with the backpack. I felt they had ridiculed me and my entire generation. Sure, the song was simplistic (16! She writes her own stuff!) but she was like me and had a good voice. Sad

Thankfully she was made of stronger stuff, continued despite the ridicule and is currently making some of the most interesting pop available! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdyxEps1uXY

Thanks Yrvani! It's pretty shitty that she gets ridiculed for her hard work (when I was 16, I slacked like crazy). I'll check out the videos when I get back from work. Wink

Thanks for the source, Yinello!

Also thanks for the rec, Yrvani, I'm in the "check it out when I'm off work" camp, too.
