despite that many grammarians consider it improper; the gender-neutral singular form use of they and their has been in use for hundreds of years

Yeah, I know, which is kind of both ages, and the blink of an eye in terms of language evolution. It's filling a needed linguistic niche. (Like "ain't" does. As far as I'm concerned, that's a word now.)

It's just so untidy when words jump between forms and usages. Wink

it will be much more easily adopted than a new third, non-gendered pronoun. plus. you is already singular and plural, so it wouldn't exactly be unprecedented to allow they to have a singular form.

This thread is a really great example of why I don't come to the comics subforum anymore.

I mean jesus fuck I don't even.

Devil's questionable parenting ethics -> Genderless pronouns

As it happens, this thread is a pretty good example of why I never leave this subforum.

Hey, I haven't heard of the "zhe" movement before, only the odd variations such as "xe, xer" and "ze, hir".
I like "Zh" , I'm totally adapting this Very Happy English needs a gender-neutral pronoun anyways.
