...

Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder is apparently the name of an episode of a television show I've never heard of and don't plan on ever watching.

Absinthe huh?

The first thing I thought of when I saw that name was the Absinthe Makes Bad Art Look Amazing poster as featured in The Non-Adventures of Wonderella.

The French word absinthe can refer either to the alcoholic beverage or, less commonly, to the actual wormwood plant, with grande absinthe being Artemisia absinthium, and petite absinthe being Artemisia pontica. The Latin name artemisia comes from Artemis, the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt.

Ooh! Double-duty name - Artemis, the goddess of (among other things) chastity and virginity...Goes with the fact that she's such a (relatively, considering she IS a devil girl) pure character. And why she's so traumatized by the BOMF district, despite having worked at the Hell Hole and being presumably aware of what goes on down there (though I guess she'd never seen it in the flesh).

Absinthe is quite nice really. As long as you don't buy cheap coloured+flavoured grain alcohol.

Interestingly, it looks like this wasn't Tat's initial choice for her name, seeing as how she comes up as "Lime" in the archives as of 10/9/2012, and this is the first mention of "Absinthe".

"But Green Fairy isn't just another name for absinthe: she is a metaphorical concept of artistic enlightenment and exploration, of poetic inspiration, of a freer state of mind, of new ideas, of a changing social order."

She is going to fix Hell. Maybe. Well, at least Earth? Parts of Earth?

Absinthe is a highly alcoholic liquor that has a green hue to it. It's nearly 68% alcohol, so it's banned in most western countries. I wonder why he chose that as her name?

Nice little detail that she still needs both hands on the rail to make her way down the stairs. She's not quite used to them yet.

Okay, since he now officially exists in what qualifies as Sinfest's "real world," any opinions on what exactly the dungeon guy is supposed to be? Devil or human or zombie or something else? A digital internet-based entity somehow "imported" into the real world? Is that a hood or his head? The possibilities...

Absinthe needs a lot of hugs! I wish she could hang with Fuchshia.

Well, we don't really have any reason to think that she can't. The Devil's seen Fuchsia under the tree, he knows where she is. If he cared about her one way or the other, he's had ample time to settle her hash by now. Maybe she's just another civilian now as far as he's concerned.

Of course, Fuchsia might think she's too "good" to hang out with the forces of "evil" any more. :-/ Heck, she doesn't even hang out with 'Nique. She seems to barely exist when not with Crim, to be mostly defined by her relationship with a guy...a situation for the Sisterhood if ever I've heard of one.

***

The one I wonder about is Fuchsia's pet Forky, along with his/her/its fellow hell creatures. Doesn't Absinthe (Abby or Sinny?) have any love to share with them? They're not only in Hell, they're in Limbo.

For those who may not recall:

If Fuchsia's gone and Blue and Absinthe work upstairs, who's stabbing and whipping and etc the damned souls? Maybe that's where Abby's fellow promotee "Russet" works. In her own private Hell.

Absinthe, sweetie, how does your head not hurt ALL OF THE TIME when you sleep with your pigtails in?

I'd say "let your hair down" but that has some weird connotations I don't want to imply.

"Absinthe" is kind of an apropos name on another level -- absinthe comes from wormwood, and "Wormwood" was the name of the other devil in The Screwtape Letters.
