Somebody has to pay, always.

Just like you, I'm in favor of an Internet public service where everybody would pay for everybody through tax, with an equal access service for all. This would allow a public policy of national coverage: the most remotely places would have the same Internet as the downtowns !

I'd just call that infrastructure.

I have the odd feeling that someone's going to try to blame her criminal nature (such as it is) on the Sisterhood, so I'm reminding everybody that the Sisterhood didn't make her sentient, Slick did.

She chose to do that, though. The Sisterhood didn't tell her to do that. I'm just sayin'.

True, but if the sisterhood had not sabotaged the fem bots in the first place she wouldn't have been instilled with violence in the first place. Not saying they knew this was going to happen, but they DID have a hand in it.

Right, because all that violence TOTALLY came from the Sisterhood, and not, you know, the actual people who perpetrated it.

Botsy is committing a crime here. No argument against that. I'd be interested to know just how much she understands about what she's doing. Also probably relevant, seems like she would need to recharge the same way that humans would need food and water, so I wonder how "hungry" she is, and if she knows of any other or better way of getting that need met.

Im not saying that the Sisterhood did it on PURPOSE, but basically they set off the chain reaction. If you shoot a gun in the air, it kills a bird, the bird slams into a car windshield on the highway and cause the car to jackknife and causing a 7 car pileup, the person who shot the gun isn't AT fault, he had no way to know, but technically he started the chain reaction so it IS his fault.

You could continue and blame the gun manufacturers as well, and that fits too, but if the man hadn't purchased the gun, he wouldn't have shot it.

Again, they did all the right things, but a bad result happened.

There's probably a half dozen or more charges that could be leveled against her for what she just did, including threatening bodily harm with a weapon and theft.

Not quite sure what Tat is aiming at in this strip. It's neither funny nor can I see any real underlying meaning behind it..

I prefer it to mean a warning, that even though things have been done to you or your group, don't fall into the trap of believing you are above everything because of it.

Yes economists would say that wouldn't they, but that's why they've been trined to say nothing else.
The truth is our today's technology would allow a 'free lunch' world not just for the 1st world but for all 7 billion people.
But there wouldn't be any PROFIT in it.

That's capitalism for ya.

I'd be more than happy to take this explanation, really i would.
But knowing Tat's patronizing style of storytelling..no..no i just can't give him that much credit for subtlety.

s'true

People are starving, but businesses will destroy perfectly good food that they don't intend to sell. Pouring kerosene over the vegetebles that weren't pretty enough to sell, etc.

I do think that should be criminal quite frankly. Fuck your "freedom" morals if they include the "freedom" to destroy food while people are dying and going malnourished, basically just for the hell of it.

Whoaaaa there. You aren't suggesting that they should be STOPED from making record breaking PROFITS, are you?
Why...that would be...anti-capitalist ! And by proxy..anti-freedom ! O.o

In all seriousness this is how every business operates actually.
Want more money, make things "rarer" and if there's abundance how do we make it rare...simple DESTROY IT.
Whether is some huge ass corporation burning oil to make its price go crazy, or some farmer dumping gallons of milk down the drain because it is "too cheap to be worth selling" ( notice i said SELLING,. not GIVING - so the good still has value, but he cannot get any PROFIT out of it )

A system that does that, is a system worth questioning. And thankfully more are everyday as it bites them in the ass.

That's my economic rant lol xD

The text we get when Botsy accesses the memories of the "sabotaged" fembots is "emotional range expanded." What I get from that is not that she was uploaded with violence, but that she was allowed to feel anger. That anger, combined with "Fierce Mode," could be leading to the shows of violence and use of threat.

And there's a chance that was already something the fembots came with just like all the other modes. Something that was suppressed and channeled, and not supposed to be activated in tandem with a sense of self, but rather for owners who like "fierce" women so long as they're not actually standing up for themselves, and dutifully fulfilling the right fetish. After all, it wasn't a software update that gave the bots those claws...

If the Sisterhood did anything, they unlocked her anger. Feminists get dismissive flak for being angry, but anger is an important emotion. Anger is part of how we defend ourselves, and there are things that anger is a very valid response to. Even for women. Yes, that needs to be specifically said, and that's sad.

I, of course, hope she figures out a non-clawing-faces-related way to express that anger, and to deal with the problems behind it. But the Sisterhood allowing her to feel her anger is not the problem. The Sisterhood showing her things that are worth being angry about is not the problem. (Sorry, but Yoda was full of shit on that one, and if Anakin had been taught to feel and process his emotions in a healthy way, instead that he should hide and bottle them up, things there mighta turned out very differently.)

Who gave her claws and built a capacity for violence into her? And who actually did the things she's angry about?

Not the Sisterhood.

Funny how when a guy posts this disagreeing with the de-facto feminists here he is labeled dude-bro and other ( apparently ) derogatory terms and told to "suck it up wuss".
But when it is a WOMAN doing it, she is "expressing her feelings"...lol the double standard....it's unbelievable Smile

What on earth are you talking about? I'm not saying that Botsy here isn't doing something she shouldn't be. I specifically said that she was, and that she needs to learn a better way.

My only point was that blaming the -Sisterhood- for her behavior and capacity for violence is erroneous.

I'm so glad such a simple comic is getting dissected so thoroughly. How embarrassed I am, for missing out on all the imaginary subtext; I had thought it was just funny. Thanks to our local hate-filled nutjobs (you guys know who you are!), I finally see the light. Blessed are the trolls, for they shall show us new paths.

The 'claws' thing makes it amusing enough. I wonder idly if she would still have threatened disembowelling were the shop attendant female, or for that matter a fellow robot.

Let's be honest i's 3/10 in terms of "funny".
I don't really recalled "LOLing" at people getting threatened with violence. But hey, it's that's what gets up your jollies...
