I expect this is going to connect to Squig's ongoing porn argument. _________________ Good day, good people! |

Oh, SWELL. The drones are evolving from creepy stalkers to trolling dickbags. Good job, Milton. _________________

Sure do hope so. Wouldn't mind seeing a mini-arc about this. Of course, I don't expect he'll actually develop or anything, oh ho ho, no.
Or.
Hold on. Wait.
Maybe...it'll work. And then Squig, of all possible characters, will become Slick's feminist-bro! He could lead Slick down the path to righteousness, with his stoner demeanor and his nonchalant attitude. Like:
"Nah, man. Sometimes women just wanna be left alone, brah! You got times when you wanna be left alone, but that shit's easy fo' you. You just stop talkin' to people when you got somewhere to go. *joint ash flick* Women cain't do that shit, though. People botherin' em. Like, every day, dude.
"Be honest, man. *puff, pass* You had to deal with that kinda shit, you'd be puttin' up signs, too."
Squig might not ever talk like that, but he would, just for this. |

I was expecting to see at least some kind of change in Squig after this comic, http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=4358 , but much like Slick anything that hints at character development tends to get whitewashed the next time Tat needs to demonstrate a point about Dudebros.
Which to a large extent maybe exactly WHY we don't see development of them as characters, as if they develop Tat will only have D man or 'random' men be the outlets of Pro-Patriarchal Behavior. He needs them as identifiable HUMAN characters with flaws and hang-ups that can be empathized with, but still easily held with distain for their unwillingness to change rather than the inability. He needs them as people who choose to allow the Patriarchy to be the norm, or ignore the damage it does to demonstrate how many men in general do the same thing. If they learn and change Tat loses them as a medium to display all of that, and all we have left is faceless goons that harass and torment the cast, or the very face of the Patriarchy himself The Devil, who doesn't so much choose it, but embodies it, lives and thrives off of it and quite possibly couldn't exist without it.
Still... I really think I would like to see some positive development for Slick, and Squig to a lesser extent, I've always found him to be just silly and fun, more a character meant to make fun of the vices and excesses of people in general than an actual representation of a specific person. |

So I decided to record myself on Facebook as I attempt to work out. Since Facebook is so "insecure", I dare you to find it and paste it here in a *.GIF . I ask this because I suck at converting video and infiltrating Facebook pages and I was hoping your invasion would make me less insecure despite the fact that I am ok with it when the government does it. |

I didn't expect Squig to change after that. Things happen to him, and maybe he changes a little, but generally he's the same. Same thing with his dieting, and the other stuff he tries to change. He might encounter new ideas and have the urge to change, but there is some fundamental thing he's missing that is blocking him from changing. He's stuck. (Though not a stuck pig, thankfully, or that'd be the end of Squig.)
Neither Slick or Squig appear to have any motive whatsoever to change. They don't appear to like change, and they appear to be hearkening back to the way things used to be. (Slick more than Squig; Squig appears more laidback.) _________________ ::lesser crisis mode::

Very true at least in regards to Squig, really he just kinda does whatever he wants that feels good, shames himself 'tries' to change gets bored and goes right back. Where as Slick DOES have motive to Change but as I said, until Tat gives him the urge to move past his issues, we'll always see him slide back.
Slick has had major events happen to him, Lost his Best Friend, recurring 'Nightmares' about the very dark reality of the things he ignorantly stands for, a dark side that has time and again abused those around him in his name of which he's felt the consequences from again and again. But until Tat decides to move him past or actually have him learn we're going to be stuck with a Slick that is boring and helplessly repetitive most of the time, he's less a character now than a plot device. I love everything Tat has done with the Comic except the fact that Slick has remained a sadly stagnant despite repeated chances for growth. |

The loss of Monique as a close/former best friend for one, again the nightmares as I said above, he's shown that he's SEEN these problems, he's aware, and damn near ANY real person who has seen or experienced the things he has would at least stop to consider and reevaluate their stance on things like this. But Tat has continuously denied Slick any chance at that.
I suppose the reason I feel this strongly about it is the fact that many of the misconceptions and prejudices I've had for years have been corrected by the comic itself and the message boards by seeing how people twist what should be clear cut and obvious stance against things that are just wrong, and turn them into personal attacks against 'all men'. I've learned from this place, I've grown, I've become a better person as a result of this comic, and I'm not the one who LIVES there. Slick is, he's been through all of this the lessons all but slapping him in the face and have him basically be the 'voice' of the exact same idiots we see on the Message Boards, not the inability to change, but the flat out desire to remain willfully ignorant and biased regardless of who it hurts. |
