"An awesome world" is definitely my next campaign slogan
"Reduce the future" sounds like the Republican version of "win the future"

http://www.last.fm/group/Christians+against+emo+music.

Aren't you glad to know that there are still people who stand for something. Something that matters, y'know? People with strong convictions that shape the world for the better. I can think of no better example than this last.fm group. Truly, they are the real heroes in our society. Shining beacons of moral conviction and an inspiration to all.

It's all summed up in their brilliant choice of group name, "Christians Against Emo Music," which sets the basic tone, and also in their mission statement:
Quote:
We love Jesus and thrash metal.

I ACCEPT THRASH AS THE WAY AND THE LIGHT

___

I also pay hundreds of dollars for a small box of pre-cut pine boards, yes I do. As they say in my homeland, "Advance Awesome Hydrangeas!" and "Thrash the Future!"

So funbetweenthebuns.com is going to go on the list of websites that aren't as interesting as they sound, with penisland.net, oddsextractor.com, speedofart.com, nycanal.com, and whorepresents.com.

The internet may be for porn, but it's also for cashing in on people who think the internet is for porn.

There is a free lecture called "Medicine in the Genomic Era." I only have a vague idea what that means (I assume it is about medical care and gene manipulation.) but Im all psyched for it.

You can register to attend the live webcast here:
www.holidaylectures.org

It has an option to say you are or are not a teacher. And even if you say you aren't a teacher, they'll send you a classroom poster. I don't know what I'll do with mine.

Quote:
Emo /ˈiːmoʊ/ is a style of rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as "emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. As the style was echoed by contemporary American punk rock bands, its sound and meaning shifted and changed, blending with pop punk and indie rock and encapsulated in the early 1990s by groups such as Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate. By the mid-1990s numerous emo acts emerged from the Midwestern and Central United States, and several independent record labels began to specialize in the style.

ScrewYouNeopets is a site dedicated to complaining about Neopets.com, complete with references to fascism and communism. I can't tell when it was created, but it is still posting letters from people who are leaving Neopets forever.

I am still amazed I ever played the game, but then I had a tamagotchi too and recent playing with the exact replica app tells me that was apparently a crappy toy as well. My childhood entertainments were mediocre...

I took one look at tamigochi and knew I would let mine die. I just refused to care about a game that requires me to play multiple times per day. I didn't do it for my keychain pet, and I didn't do it for Tiny Tower.

The other day I just sat down and read a whole bunch of Zen Pencil comics.
They are pretty well done, and can indeed be motivating.

I wouldn't be me if I didn't find a 'flaw', too many comics have theme of adults who didn't realize their childhood dreams.

I do like this one though
http://zenpencils.com/comic/97-charles-bukowski-air-and-light-and-time-and-space/
Good to read a Bukowski quote that isn't about women.

and this one

and this one

Thanks for linking those. A lot of Bukowski quotes have been piercing my psyche in some form or another lately. They just stick out more, and I think its because he is concise while appealing to those who have made mistakes without having a condescending aura about him... The quotes of his that stick out most are always about alcoholism and sleeping in till noon, but that makes his profound stuff more profound i guess.
