But even expert mycologists (fungus guys) have trouble distinguishing some harmful from harmless species, so do not ever eat a mushroom unless it came to you on a plate.

Just to add to the warning, the neurotoxins found in fungi are some of the nastiest toxins anywhere, often requiring only very small amounts as well as usually having irreversible as well as fast acting effects. In other words, a very little bit can fuck you up really bad and almost instantly. Not saying that you would try them though, right?

Right?

Joey?

See, this is why I stay away from all mushrooms. I mean, it's really because I think they're gross but still!

Darq, I read reading up on said toxins while I was trying to figure out just what the 'shrooms were. Terrible things that Mdme. Nature makes. Especially from Destroying Angel. Wow. *shivers* Not only neurotoxins but things that destroy the liver and the kidneys. And the brain. Wow, indeed.

Don't go looking for how many rat hairs are allowed into each jar of peanut butter.

I need a shroom fix... Right now some meadow mushrooms with a spoonful of butter would be just perfect.

What the heck happened with the Australian elections? Please explain like I am an American who doesn't have cable, much less get the BBC.

I see people saying he's awful (Yahtzee's term was "an over-inflated Tony Blair sex doll," which to be fair might have been a ringing endorsement in Australian-ese), and I just saw that he has dissolved Australia's climate commision, because he doesn't believe climate change is real... did they just accidentally elect Dick Cheney or something?

What's the post mortem, and what are the real effect the country is looking at?

Because the previously successful party kind of lost popular support, the next most popular party got their guy in. The near-unanimous description I hear is that he's turned out to be Australia's Dubya.

A LOT of it surrounded Rudd's changed views on same sex marriages and many of his former supporters feeling "betrayed": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdU3ooAZSH8

And this is how Abbott, the winner feels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lako_Y3bxA

And he also doesn't like republics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw3ttgxooOA

Did someone say he sounds like Dubya (mining industry there is akin to oil in the US): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1EXbRSmnmU
