Have you ever had the pleasure of playing Hatoful Boyfriend, Sam? I only ran across it in a thread one time, but it looked glorious. It's a dating sim where all the characters are pidgeons, and it's a parody of other dating sims.

Okay, I see that now, but it's missing the requisite fangs and/or whiskers to compete the look.

Hatoful Boyfriend is hilarious. I'm also thinking of buying the Royal Trap, I have a thing for unique dating sims.

Just tried Prime World. I want to love it but jesus christ the voice acting. Also taking a gander at their website instantly throws a lady's underwear in your face.

Yessssss omg HR I envy you, you get to play through it for the first time. (Like okay, my laptop still gives me install instructions in Japanese because of that game and I don't regret it for a second.)

Also, Yinello, Royal Trap looks really interesting I will probably have to pick that up at some point. It's not really a dating sim though, is it? More like a visual novel. EITHER WAY, sounds super interesting.

I couldn't really figure out what Prime World was supposed to be about after glancing at the page (other than boobs, of course).

Prime World is (from what I read) an RPG Moba - a bit like LoL but not a clone of LoL. It does have its good points but almost kills them with oversexualization (which is really fucking stupid). Just goes to show that thinking you always need to cater to horny teenage kids can lose you customers. I really don't know why people still think this is a good advertising ploy in freaking 2013.

Royal Trap is definitely more visual novel but I believe it also has dating elements in it. I'm not sure (haven't played it yet) - I only know Hanako's other game, Magical Diary is a bit like it but that's more for the Harry Potter audience and that's definitely a visual novel with dating elements in it.

Yeah I was looking at Magical Diary, too! They both look really interesting.

Uuuugh why do I like dating sims so much. I think part of what I like is the weird blend of novel and game. It's kind of neat that games are sort of branching into new territory and they don't always have to be a dating sim to do it now. This is actually a huge part of why I'm digging Rune Factory 4 so far. The main story is pretty simple, but they supplement it by having eight million other things going on and it's actually worth talking to people every day because they say new things and you can spawn new events constantly.

(God though, knowing my luck with Magical Diary I'd play through and accidentally get forced to marry a professor. HOW IS THAT A THING THAT COULD HAPPEN, I WOULD FREAK OUT A LOT.)

I adore dating sims because I just love having someone shower affection on me. xD

The marrying the professor part is dang unexpected. I was super sceptical at first but the way it was written was pretty brilliant. They don't play it off like a fanfic cliche, it's really a big serious deal that has consequences and shit. I can't say more because omg spoilerz.

This game will make you replay a lot. I know I still do.

Oh man I don't want to spoil it but Rune Factory 4 had me actually yelling at my 3DS, then laughing my ass off five minutes later. It was glorious. Plus, even though the main story is over (I think? I don't know it ran credits though), the other characters are still going about their business and are still throwing out the occasional side story.

I mean I was all about the sweet guy to start off with but it's not nearly as hysterical as watching the jerk stumble over himself whenever he tries to say something nice.

S-stupid [Player Character]. I-It's not like I like you, or anything!

I laughed. A lot.

I feel like copping to being a gelatinous tube-like creature hell bent on eating my shield would have happened by now.

He's tried to tell you so many times, but was afraid of losing you.
