Our Halloween thread seems to have been eaten, so I'll post these here.

A. Spot on Draco Malfoy, and
B. Nicely done knot (I'm amazed how few people can tie a tie).

A: Thanks Very Happy
B: It's a Windsor knot, I taught myself to do it from the internet. I'm actually wearing a tie with a half-Windsor today. I don't really know why so few people can tie ties, considering the information is so readily available. I mean, I only started wearing ties on a semi-regular basis (AKA whenever I felt like being a bit formal) about a year ago, and now I know three knots off by heart. My main issue is usually having to retie it because one of the ends are too long. Ties are usually a bit too long on me anyway since I'm short >_> That's why doing a Windsor or half-Windsor helps, to use up some of the excess. Although I didn't need it in the picture, I want to get a tie clip, they seem pretty useful.

Man, I hate half-windsors. The innate lack of symmetry offends me. Sadly I almost never have much reason to wear ties anymore. Maybe I should start just to look dapper?

And that is a pretty awesome Malfoy.

Depends on the thickness of the tie itself. A full windsor with a heavy tie would be too a huge knot. I'm bad at tie names, but there are other options. Sometimes just playing with a knot is all that is needed. You generally know which knot you will need as soon as you start.

I too need to tie it up more often though.

I learned how to tie a tie from my mother. But I don't know anything fancy.

My dad taught me to tie a tie the night before a job interview when I was 18. Totally worked, too. I was the only idiot who showed up for an interview in the mall food court wearing a tie.

There doesn't have to be fancy. Most tie styles are just an extra flip or reversing the direction anyway.

Unless you get into the novelty knots, which is the equivalent of wearing a fedora.
