Woah, that's actually a pretty cool looking building from the inside.

Although it seems like a fair bit of space would be wasted by being hollow.

Apparently Sawant attracted a hit piece on Forbes (written by a microbiologist and obvious neo-McCarthyist), which in turn attracted a response, that does deal with the issue of rent control.

Hunt for Bigfoot goes wrong. Wronger than hunting for Bigfoot in Oklahoma, even.
I blame The Discovery Channel for this.

Well, suddenly the 'no killing bigfoot' law in my town makes more sense.

After seven years of administrative and judicial battles incurring almost a million dollars in legal expenses to the district, John Freshwater is finally fired and his termination affirmed by the Ohio Supreme Court.
But not for teaching children Creationism in the guise of science for several years, nor for branding a cross into a student's forearm with a Tesla coil. Rather, they confirmed valid grounds for termination as insubordination by adding several sectarian religious books to his desk after he was asked by the principal to remove his Bible.

... How do you even brand someone with a Tesla Coil?

Also, ew. I have to share a planet with people who do that?

They never addressed the branding issue? Damn, if I ever become a teacher remind me to get a branding iron. Except mine will be the greek letter psi. And I will brand people as part of a some cockamamy "experiment."

that got settled in a separate lawsuit - apparently after the school board dismissed it. something about such "branding" didn't leave a permanent mark, and also a bunch of other kids said they didn't remember anyone being held down or crying or screaming when they were branded.

still, it all sounds kinda weird.

So it turns out that at least some LG-made smart TVs are spying on you, sending your viewing habits and the contents of any storage device they can see on your home network back to LG HQ.
Yes, that means they can see and report files stored on a thumbdrive you plug into the TV, but even files stored on a separate machine that share the network with your TV are fair game. And apparently it does this regardless of whether you turn the feature off or not (assuming you even have that option).

The governor of Oklahoma vowed back in September to deny spousal benefits to same-sex couples severing in her state's National Guard. When the feds pushed back because that violates the new rules, she decided to cut all spousal benefits for everybody.

ah, another darling of the teaparty! taking a mean-spirited, legally indefensible position for ideological reasons, which will hopefully make her completely unelectable in the future. i look forward to her swift collapse in the face of outrage by her own national guard (as well as to what will no doubt be a hilarious explanation that makes it seem like she won anyway).

Well she's being pro-family and pro-America, you see. Supporting gay marriage will make real marriages collapse, and we can't have our armed forces doing that kind of thing. Especially not our emergency responders, who may be there when disaster strikes, setting some kind of example for homosexuals everywhere by flaunting their spousal benefits in a state that refuses to grant them marriage to civilians.

That's why she had to destroy the family benefits of everybody in the armed forces' emergency response wing. For the good and safety of America and of families.
