Well It's certainly interesting. But the only ships I'm on are the USS CriminyxFuchsia and the USS Let's see where this is going. _________________ Everyone is equal in the eyes of death. |

I've come to talk with you again

Interesting that 'nique has the new, short hairdo but the shadow has the old hairdo with the long fringe bits and the bits sticking up at the back of the head (sorry, I'm not really a hair person, and I don't know the technical terms for these). |

When I lived in China for a year, I took classes in a converted hotel room, and in the bathroom they used to play a flute-y classical version of The Sound of Silence over the loudspeakers.

I think Shadow Nique is her old self, the self she doesn't really like anymore but still has in her. Think of it as internal misogyny; even when you realize it and do your best to get rid of it, it still lingers because you've been raised with it from day 1. |

It's interesting her shadow self is showing up when she is experiencing lots of pain. I wonder how that meshes with people who are all about, "Happy funtime 'Nique never had any problems." _________________ ::lesser crisis mode::

That's because Happy Funtime Nique suited them and never pushed them out of their comfort zone. |

I would actually prefer "dark" sarcastic 'Nique, simply because her current style is actually very banal and bureaucratic. It doesn't scream "angry bitch" so much as "this is what school is supposed to feel like." And I'm sure a lot of her fans agree. |

What do you mean by "school"?
Also, why does 'Nique need to be an angry bitch at all? |

Her new persona lacks... blood, for want of a better term. Contrast her appearance here
with her current persona. I can't find any new examples of Monique's actual poetry now, but I do remember it basically being a university lecture, but shorter. Just a couple keywords put in sentences that were more or less grammatically correct. You could see the current backlash not as being her "failure" as a "woman," but her failure as a poet/entertainer. People go to these venues seeking variety, variety that she has failed to offer. |
