I hazily recall hearing something about sex abuse and Bill Cosby when I was a kid, but hadn't heard about the nature of the accusations.

Sad Everyday there is some bit of media I consumed as a child that I have to regret or be disturbed by.

This discussion of women and short hair is neat, and I think very relevant to the reaction some people have to Nique's short hair.

I must be, "damaged," too, since I actually find short hair on women kind of sexy. Maybe I'm just a different type of misogynist. =\

what i found interesting about that article is the revelation that some men apparently think that literally every decision a woman makes is made with an eye to what men think. i've worn my hair long and i've worn it short, and i think the only hairstyling decision i've ever made with an eye to what men thought was when my father thought it would look better with a center part. (of course, that was also a pretty popular style at the time.) generally, what provokes my decision to either grow my hair out or cut it off is that i've gotten bored with it the way it is.

guess i'm weird too.

Apparently this is old, But I just saw it on TV w/ my wife about 2 minutes ago. I'd say it's at least as sexist, if not moreso when taken in context, than your average axe commercial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uojoBHjZohI

Just to add to this, apparently, as I was 'informed' during the Olympic opening ceremonies, merely owning a BMW will net you some extra-marital nookie, and that it's 'ok': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-3D0-doMDQ

I realize it's not a new commercial BTW, but that's the first time I've seen it.

In other news, this is a VERY good short film called Oppressed Majority featuring role reversal of everyday sexism. It's NSFW (oh noes, teh 1.5 seconds of boobies) and TRIGGER WARNING: there's an assault. I've seen some role reversal stuff here and there, but this piece is done disturbingly well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4UWxlVvT1A

The movie is really good. Unfortunately I feel people are going to mass misinterpret it.

This ad displays alcohol as a way to celebrate an important accomplishment. Would love to see more things like this rather than "The wimmins will line up for your penis, which is so virile and larger than Priapus."

I wanted to know what happened to the guy ;_; I know the end was like "back to the real world where that wouldn't have happened", but I still felt awful for him.

The sad truth is that he probably tries to get over what happened like most victims. Learning the hard way that you can't overcome a trauma but simply learn how to live with it. Maybe he'll break up with his unfeeling partner and find someone who understands him but never enough because they've simply not led his life.

Noelle Stevenson does the webcomic Nimona and an ongoing comic called the Lumberjanes.

Noelle Stevensonís Comic Shop Experience Makes Us Sad

The whole comic.

Gingerhaze is pretty fantastic in every way. (For some reason reading that on her blog directly doesn't distinguish where the quotes are, though. A good chunk of that text is a response to her comic. Gingerhaze's response to the dudebro starts at "Okay, you pedantic asshole, listen here.")

Anyway, apparently the comic started a pretty impressive clusterfuck. I can't find any the relevant links now, of course, but it was sure something.

Wait I found it! This guy seems cool. Though again, looking at this on anything but dashboard is weird. Oh well, you get the idea, scroll past all the 'like' and 'reblog' notifications.

I think a lot of stuff happened on twitter because the comic indirectly led to something involving the show Comic Book Men.
http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/front-page-comic-news/79498-fanboy-rampage-beat-vs-comic-book-men.html

Here is just the link to the original tumblr post without the comments: http://gingerhaze.tumblr.com/post/76241121783/oh-i-know-i-have-it-better-than-a-lot-of-would-be

Her comic inspired others to add their own experiences:
http://madeleineishere.tumblr.com/post/76450041997/gingerhaze-oh-i-know-i-have-it-better-than-a
http://cedreau.tumblr.com/post/76455594043/just-something-that-happened-to-me-at-a-convention

There's a(nother) Bleeding Cool thread that I won't link to because some of the responses are pretty clueless.

Every comic world issue ends up spinning a web that is confusing to follow if you aren't there from the beginning or following the right people on twitter/tumblr/hi5.
