"Satoshi" still denying it, Newsweek is basically unable to definitively defend their conclusion about him. It's likely they got the wrong guy. Not that it would really matter much if true.

Anyway, after being sued from Canada and the US and failing to have their bankruptcy bid put the cases fully on hold, MtGox "found" $115M in "lost" bitcoin. Whoopsie, butterfingers! It's still not nearly enough to cover the total losses in either dollars or fake-money terms.

The IRS is going to classify bitcoin as a property for tax purposes. Not a currency.

Even if you had the time-machine sort of foresight, or hindsight-foresight, I think the only sane way to be involved in/take advantage of bitcoin would have been to get in near the beginning, then gradually sell your coins off starting from the earliest time they started getting real publicity.

when Sam made this thread it was already too late

the problem with the time machine scenario is that your interference could have easily disrupted the precarious chain of events that lead to people actually valuing this crap, especially if you started too soon, plus there would be way bigger things that you could do to stir things up in advantageous ways than simply fleecing libertarians and speculators on bits

Okay guys let's try and prove we can totally make money with bitcoin with this handy simulator.

http://www.beepboopbitcoin.com/

I am currently a bit in debt but as soon as the price of bitcoin goes up I'll make all the money.

bitcoin was ironically only a good investment when it was not an investment. back in the starry-eyed dreamland.

Wait, wait, wait... are you saying that online bookies dealing in unregulated pseudomoney where they can make up literally all the rules may just be doing it to take the money of addicts?

I, for one, am shocked.

Briefly but repeatedly, a single pool controlled 51% of the bitcoin mining power and had the potential to break the decentralization model that bitcoin relies on.
