It looks as if the Devil is sitting by the port window, facing forward. When he looks out the window to his left, he sees the paper airplane passing him in the opposite direction (much as oncoming traffic would look to a North American driver).

The slight curvature towards the left-hand end of the plane in panel three suggests to me that that *is* the front, and there's no sitting-backwards malarkey here.

That said, I often sit facing the rear of a vehicle if given the choice. It's a better direction to be facing in case of a sudden deceleration, like an accident. OK, in an aeroplane, that's unlikely to make any difference in a big accident, but still, it might help in the case of some sort of milder problem.

Also I'm starting to wonder if the paper plane facing the wrong direction is a deliberate thing - along with the goggly eyes on the Devil-puppet, God is portraying Big D as stupid by having the puppet version flying his plane backwards...

That's always been the case with the Devil puppet (and all others to some extent).

Oh, finally, our "tyrannical father"! Hope to see him more often and more active.
