...Wait. What do they accomplish, exactly? I mean, Squig doesn't have them and he can see the Matrix. Shouldn't Miko be more used to it?

I really feel like I forgot about something.

Also, I was checking the tags to see if Lil' Sis finally got hers, but no such luck. However, it seems like the helmet's got its own tag...

Or maybe she is called Helmet????

It's not that they let her see the Matrix... it's that they keep her from getting signal bombarded to submit to "traditional" female stuff. I'll need to find the exact strip where she's staring at a Devil TV, and it's beaming stuff into her head, and then someone (I want to say Nique?) rescues her, and then Cleo tosses her the patriarchy blocker sunglasses. I'll edit my post if I can find the strip in question.

EDIT: Found it!

I guess that works. I hope I'm in the hearts of the women in my life, not their heads, and if necessary, I would give my life for them.

And, if necessary, would they give their life for you?

they might very well - you feel that way if you love someone.

but protecting someone and saving them are not exactly the same things. as a rather blunt example, witness the many parents who would undoubtedly do anything to protect their children from drug addiction, but are ultimately unable to save them.

in the end, we all have to save ourselves. someone else can give you the glasses, but you have to decide to wear them.

Yes, I believe they would. Pretty sure my wife and I would fight over who got to die for the other. I'm getting old, if given the choice I would certainly give myself so my daughters or granddaughters could live.

But mouse is right, people seldom get that choice. I remember about eleven years ago, after a young woman of 29 had died, a couple in their 80's walking past my office, saying to another couple, "Why couldn't it have been us, we're old, we've lived our lives, we're ready to die." But of course, they didn't have that choice. However, a month later their car slid into another in a snowstorm, and they both died. One of my few double funerals. But I could definitely tell people that I knew they could rejoice, because this couple had no regrets. Sorry, off topic.

My father is in pain right now from stage 4 cancer and I'm currently taking care of him. If I could take on his pain so he wouldn't suffer I would. I would take a bullet for my brother, my husband (if i had one) or/and my son (if I had one). I'm all for protecting and supporting the men in my life because I love them and want the best for them.
