Technically I hijacked the suicicde thread after this one. And CC and I are definitely not the same person, although I dont think that's what DR meant with his statement/lament

I just agree with CC because I'm Christian and that argument happens to be the most historically, logically, and philosophically viable.

And if you sound the 'Burn the fundie' alarm I will throw large pointy objects at you.

Remember, this list includes:

Butcher's knives
Domestic house cats
Combine harvesters

so save the kitties and adopt a fundie today!

Oh..wait....where did that come from?

this is a stupid argument. if you believe in god, is it impossible to assume that he created the world, and then also created the way in which people could disprove him, thus allowing humans free will? maybe god did something that *gasp!* isn't in the bible? that he oversaw evolution and speciation and natural selection to create the world that we live in? wouldn't he then have created the world, if he created the processes that formed it?

If you're Mellowfish, it IS impossible to believe that.

I find it generally doesn't work anywhere if you're trying to have a rational, reasoned discussion inclusive of facts. But here again, this doesn't stop Mellowfish.

when you are having a strictly biblical discussion, i think that you have to sometimes say that the bible is god's word and that there are no errors. but until then, and whenever science is being discussed, then i find that the general view of "god lets people decide" seems to spark the most intellectual arguments.

When did we install one of those?

*resists temptation*

*fails to resist temptation*

*sounds the 'Burn the fundie' alarm*

What? Anyway, I can always use more sharp objects... Twisted Evil

*rolls out the tanks*

*...and the combine harvesters*

*mans the equipment with cats and replaces their field knives with butcher's knives*

Go to it, men!

Err, toms.

Whatever.

The Aramaic bible, of course.

Everything else is sullied by imperfect metaphorical re-rendering.

This from a lame cartoon character.

Science makes no claim against any of these concepts. It only tests what is empirically viable; this empirical viability could be explained as illusory by any means, be it God's will or the Noodly appendage or whatever.

Now, I don't know so much about the idea that the earth is indeed around 6000 years old and that rapscalliony trickster God likes to plant ample evidence that it is not, so that He might condemn those who actually trust the empirical sensibility He gave them.

I mean, He'd get extra 'lovable scamp' points if He did, but man -- it would just kind of strike me as mean spirited!

Is there any particular reason you've stooped to the level of emphatically lame zingers based on my avatar, or did you just run out of creative ways to be snide?

I sure hope the trend passes. I wouldn't want any more hilarious ICE BURNS from Mellowfish which would destroy my ego and my credibility.

Mercy, I say. Mercy. I have no response, comical or otherwise, to puerile dickweedism.
