i think the tail placement is deliberate - i mean, look at the hand on the cane in the same panel. would he do such a great job on that, and then just put the tail any old where?

and the devil is a true salesman - he shows you all the really great stuff, and then says "oh, in _your_ price range? this is all i've got..."

Edit: I decided to check the archives and it's not mistake. The Devil is left-handed. I am greatly amused.
