Joe Namath, Joe Montana, John Elway are all football greats, and Prime Time is a nickname of another great, Deion Sanders. For the others that don't know Foxtrot, Alpha, Tango, is a mock play, it's also the Phonetic Alphabet for the word 'fat'.

Anyway, they're playing football and 'Nique is using the wrong sports taunts. First panel she's using baseball, Michael Jordan is best known for basketball, but he's also played baseball. Grand Slam is when there is players on all of the bases and someone hits a home run scoring four points in, you guessed it, baseball.

Do you thing Tat has a thing for baseball?

Not only greats, but they're all quarterbacks, which is what Slick is in the game (the guy that throws the ball to another guy to get a touchdown). Also, today is Superbowl Sunday, I'm sure if there's any theme here, it's because of that.

LOL I agree! =D

I like her. ^^ She is one of my favorites in this comic. I especially like it when she nabbed the ball from porky there. Great stuff! ^^

Slick is wearing number 18, much like Peyton Manning will be doing today and the helmet on Criminy's head has the Chicago emblem (another participant in today's game). Squigley's shirt reads "Sweetness" which references one of the best running backs ever, Walter Payton. Think that about covers it.

Also, goal is used in soccer, or at least when you say it like that.
Usually.
My favorites are panels 9-11.

This time, no.
It is was inspired by calvinball, we could see at least one fake horse, some racquetball wickets, and at least 1 bandana.

Right. But did she, however, score a legal point?

Sinfest is the place I go to to get away from sports talk at work.

Ah well. It's still brilliant.

the fifth it's kind of classic, sunsety like.

I loved the speed of today's. Probably because of the quantity of panels:

Notice how panels 3 4 and 5 are all on a left movement (Slick going back),
Panels 6, 7 and 8 have right movement (Squig running), except maybe on panel 8, because there's a collision, that ends on panels 9 10 and 11, qhere 'Nique runs to the left (in panel 11, she turned back and shot the ball).

It would seem it's A LOT of movement, but in panel 12, we see they actually ran like 5 steps... the well explored concept in comics that childern see everything bigger and further away... Calvin style.

But actually, as a critic... panel 12 doesn't make much sense, according to where Squig and 'Nique should be: Squig should be farther away from Slick, and 'Nique closer... unless it had happened some time, and Squig walked to Slick, and actually Monique jumped anywhere she wanted to, not in the end zone.
But that isn't very clear...

Not that I mean this to contradict you in any was, since I know about as little about baseball as I do about American Football, but when I read grand slam, I associated it to tennis.
