Or quite the opposite, and he's being ironic.

what's interesting is that in earlier strips, monique is clearly drawn to the manlier, "studlier" guys. maybe her wants are changing? or maybe manliness is the type of thing, where, if you have to say that you have it, you probably don't have it. |

Maybe Monique is just not actually interested in Slick in any way other than friendship, but she can tell that he's killing himself over something.
Unrequited love - it happens. |

Or maybe 'Nique is into real men.. like the sum of what Crim/Piggy/Slick would be

I love this strip. And Nique having crushed over that asshole way back when with his paper and his temper, I'm sure she's nowhere near as selective as she would like to believe.
Slick's reasoning is brilliant, I think. What more you want, woman? _________________ I don't know much, but I do know I don't know much. You don't seem to grasp that about yourself. |

I think Monique just wants a guy who knows exactly who he is.
Slick obviously doesn't. |

I think they're both oblivious of the chemical reactions that are taking place in between them. Slick is starting to, and is doing his best to react upon them, and Monique is either utterly ditzy about it, or she's just playing really hard to get...
Or I'm completely wrong and this is just an entertaining comic. |

it's actually quite easy what kind of guy Monique (nowadays) wants:
a nice romantic guy
remember, there are 2 times when slick actually managed to almost get a date:
1. he wrote a poem about Monique and after some discussing he asked her nicely on a date(but this date was ruinied by Pig before it even happened)
2. when she was visiting his house(i think she was somehow in a bad mood) he told her romantic and nice stuff, and she was totally into it(even though slick tried his best not to laugh) (this was ruinied by Seymour, and slick blurted out he was just playing his game)
so, both times, he was just nice and romantic, and that's what Monique already said too some times. |

Didn't they have sex... or at least it was hinted that they had sex?
This took place somewhere and sometime when monique first hit the scene. |

I'm pretty sure that's as close as it ever gets.
Though they did (almost) go on a date, one time. _________________ Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS" |

And a bit before that. Quote: "Listen, you're very vulnerable right now. You need to come in and get naked right away." "Sniff...Thanks. You're so sweet."
BUT! When a cartoonist is exploring his world and his characters in those early, heady days, he may write discontinuties. Sinfest is operating on entirely different terms and continuities than it did in those days. Slick is not Caligula reincarnated. Slick is a dude that needs to tell himself he can kill tigers with his eyes because he only comes up to Nique's hip.
Incidentally, the pig has a name. The dude's name is Squigley. Or, as you prefer, Tonkatsu, the Pig Ninja. _________________ I don't know much, but I do know I don't know much. You don't seem to grasp that about yourself. |
