he began in a small and intensely lucid voice
in all of memory no one had been so outspoken before
and we were ready for it, a point of no return
to never go back to the gray, chill, militaristic silence
to the intellective void, to the land without poetry
to the spiritual drabness

he was always on the point of "going away"
on one of those trips is when we must have met
among the buds and slips of this life
sharing something that cannot be described
but in the words he has used to describe it

we must assume that the louder we shout
the more likely we are to be heard
"dreams! adorations! illuminations! religions!
the whole boatload of sensitive bullshit!"
the personal communicates the universal

he continued on in a more unnatural tone
religious visions turning into a desire to be fucked
a link between the visionary and the concrete
through gestures of greater and greater desperation
"nothing but a hopeful little bit of hallucination"
each of us alone and all of us together
sympathetically enterng into his experience

I am going through an ordeal of separation
casting off of the principle of division
moving toward unification
and I must believe it has always been me
and me alone, or it will not work
but he tells me otherwise

he explains a view of reality
describing the many parts of the world
so that they simply exist next to each other
without conflict and without hierarchy
unified not by complex relations among the parts
but by an all-embracing relation between any part and the whole

he finishes off with the word "GO"
and so strengthened by our descent and return
we stride outside through exits
smiling as we look over our shoulders
for there is no hell and our lovers
whom we thought to find there
are waiting for us in the streets

---

I may or may not be done with this. feel free to contribute.

edited once. the ending now wants me to continue but I don't know if I should.

edited twice. I feel better.

is it held at arms length or, maybe, viewed from across the room like a thumbnail?

notes for a story...very clean notes for a very human story?

all I ever have are notes for stories. not stories, not the fleshed-out full-bodied totality, just notes and poetic ramblings. but perhaps I should not worry about that. maybe this alone is what I do well or not well. I just don't know how to manage it.

Your future history thread, is at least short story length, and self-contained. You've got talent, what you need is discipline

how about self-discipline, or an even dirtier word, self-confidence.

that was fun, sure. not something I felt, or can take seriously. a good starting point, maybe.

yeah I know I lack discipline. I also doubt the validity of my talent, because I think that if I really believed in what I was saying then I would have the discipline to say it completely. it's not like I am completely lazy.

nerves are a tool, too. they're like the strings.

confident or not you can pluck at them well.

nervous is just a certain set of frequencies.

myself, i think commitment is far removed from discipline, and more difficult to come by.

I never really considered that.

anything can grow in these magnetic fields
as an individual and with everyone's
usual falling in and out of love
but all passions are good
free floating cells, groupuscules
the social consciousness
everyone's usual carelessness with thought
anything goes, combinations of nostalgia and optimism
you cannot hide the abyss beneath a scaffold
you can forget yourself in repetition
you can find peace of mind
when you trust

It's raining
harder and longer than last
week.
People are losing houses.
Rivers are getting violent like drunk
fathers
eating up roads,
spitting, screaming "FUCK,"
and then, after the roads, they
come for the whole
damn

house.

It's like an alien
world out there, raging,
and I'm stuck in here by the lamplight
wondering
if throwing a radio through the window
pane is really gonna solve
all my

problems.

you can barely see them
one on top of the other it seems
the bottom rows deep in the tree
the tops ones jutting out into the rain
a hundred black crows, maybe
not saying a word
