I would like to cosplay as something from Sinfest at SakuraCon. Any suggestions?

Would you fit on a trike?

(Though they probably wouldn't allow that on the con floor). Seymour would probably be easy to do? Though perhaps not terribly recognizable. Hrm.

while the devil girls would be fun, there are too many other things that feature devil girls, so people might not get it.

i say, anything monique. classic monique, anti-patriarchy 'nique, gypsy 'nique...

also, ditto on the pics.

To really put it in to place, you need a Slick too. Skinny ties are even super easy to find this season.

I was thinking that anything other than a devil girl might be too obscure and esoteric. I can't imagine it would be too much fun to have to constantly explain one's costume. Of course I could be wrong, it may not be the pain in the ass for someone else that I would find it to be. I could also be mistake regarding sinfest's popularity or at least con-going general awareness of the comic. I figured that with a devil girl you would have greater freedom of costume interpretation and customization. And if you felt like explaining it to someone and introducing them to sinfest, then no problem. On the other hand if you are tired, in a bad mood, and/or generally fed-up with everyone always asking you about your costume (I don't know you and this might not be an issue for you, but I know it would be for me after, say, the first 20 minutes or so) then simply answer 'devil girl' and leave it at that.

edit: sorry, I may have put too much of myself into that answer and not have taken into consideration what would be best for you in your situation. unfortunately, I feel I only have a superficial (not to be take in its more common, negative context) idea of who you really are and so the best I'm able to do is to answer your question as if I were in your shoes. but unfortunately even your shoes can't mask the odor of cynicism emanating from my feet. all this is metaphoricalyl speaking, of course.

I have a food question for those who can answer.

My friend lives in Portland after living here for his whole life. We regular ship him some stuff like Utz pretzels and such.

We were talking last night and he said he misses hominy. I thought it strange because i know he can buy it out there. He said it comes in the cans, or fresh if he wants it, but it's not the same. He said it's essentially just white corn over there, where as here it's more of a cranberry sauce consistency, I guess he means almost like a paste.

Does anyone know what the hell he is on about?

I've never heard of hominy having a cranberry sauce-like consistency... but then I don't eat it often, and I live on the West Coast. That sounds weird, though.

that does sound weird. maybe there's one brand of canned hominy popular in your area that isn't found in portland? when i think of cranberry sauce, i picture the jellied matrix that forms around the berries, and i could see some canning processes giving you something like that, as opposed to the canned version i most often see here, which is more a water-pack. most of the brands i see here are mexican or mexican-sounding (i generally find canned hominy in the mexican food section). anyway - try asking him about brands.

And you are certain he doesn't mean grits?

Okay, hominy... it should be like puffed up corn. I suppose if it is cheap and badly processed hominy it would be chuncked up instead of in individual kernels. I guess. Maybe he just needs to try another brand. And what the hell is fresh hominy??? You drop that shit in lye - there is nothing fresh about it.

That's what I was guessing, it's the only way I know of hominy. But I've never seen grits come in a can, though I've never looked either.

I was for a short period of time. Fun times though terribly, terribly picky.

Is it a terrible thing to put your career first? Like in front of friends and family? And one day significant others?

I have a current outlook on life that someone told me they felt that it was a sad outlook. People will come in go in life, and the only thing consistent will be me and what I've built... Maybe its just a phase. I feel like an angsty teenager. Rolling Eyes

Tell them to fuck off. This is America and we can put work in front of anything. Anything!

But seriously, put your career in front of anything you want without feeling bad until you find a good reason to change your priorities. The whole point of priorities is to find what fulfills you. They shouldn't mock you for having different goals.

I have never found a career goal that I put in front of sig.... I lied. I totally went back to school and gave the guy I was dating all of 1 weeks notice that I was leaving the state.

Yeaaaah, some people can get a bit intense and picky about it, which is irritating.

... I admit I'm mostly in it for the fencing. Rapier melees in the woods are REALLY FUN.
