I am planning on having a small social gathering at my house and was wondering what you all thought of this idea.

It's gonna be a spaghetti party, where I supply the noodles but ask everyone to contribute their own sauces. Kind of like a pot luck, but with sauce. Have a sign up-esque sheet that is in no way required but will help to prevent duplicates.

I'd also encourage (and provide) other treats as well, but the sauce would be a requirement.

This idea is fantastic and I approve. Especially if none of your friends have alergies to things like tomatoes.

/I do have a friend with a tomato allergy.

I'll bring alfredo sauce, then act a little uncertain when someone asks what kind of cheese I put in it.

There's always pesto.

it sounds like an excellent idea. even if people bring the same kind of sauce, they are unlikely to be identical - so all kinds of opportunities to trade recipes.

I have done that kind of thing (though we all cooked in one place) and it became a regular thing because it was awesomesauce.

Heh, we've got another set of friends who are a married couple; One has a wheat allergy, the other has a milk allergy.

The wife is able to make gluten free, dairy free chocolate chip cookies *that taste good*. I'm still fairly certain she's using sorcery of some sort.

I've basically been "single" since January, as that's when my wife and I agreed that it was basically over, despite financial and legal obstacles still in the way. I want to take a full year for myself to just be single and not pursue any other intimate relationships because I feel that it's best for me.

Now, there is a lovely lady that drives the bus I take home on Fridays. Admittedly I am attracted to her, but that accounts for virtually none of my interactions with her save for the first time I started talking to her. We are very friendly and chatty on the ride, and she has said that it throws her off if I don't take her bus home on Fridays. She's even invited me out with her and her friends on weekend, although nothing came of the invitation. Anyway, because I live in a campus town and the semester is ending, the driver assignments for the routes is about to change and there's no guaranty that she'll have a route that I catch anymore.

What's a reasonable way to offer to keep in touch that doesn't come across as "I'd like to date you"? She is aware of my situation at home so it's entirely possible that I'm over thinking this.

She already asked to hang out with you so the door is open with zero weirdness to say "Let's hang out sometime. You on facebook?/here's my number."
