| I think the strip works just fine. Hell, I would call it a culmination of Seymour's characterization thus far: Conflict between being a "good Christian" and giving himself to God, and giving in to temptation of greed or whatever and going nuts with all the fun stuff. |

The way I understand that cartoon Seymour wants to get money from the ATM. He ends up at that special new ATM. And instead of just giving him the money he needs, the ATM appeals to his conscience and drives him to donate the money to GOD instead of having it paid out.
This now makes things difficult for poor Seymour as he needs the money (even he has to eat) but doesn't want to be a martialist.
I can't see how this interferes with Seymour's character. I rather think it fits quite well. He needs money for living but feels bad for not donating it. |

But all this talk about the comic is confusing me! We didn't have fancy fora's to discuss stuff in the old days! We had to do with just one, and we didn't talk about the comic much!
I miss that. _________________

| Seymour has this idea of "Christian" that arguably charicatures the furthest-right fundamentalist sort, which is a hard ideal to live up to unless you're completely and irredeemably bonkers. The ATrinityM machine represents the ideal he has in his head, a starkly black-or-white, love-it-or-hate-it, Godly-or-heathen mindest where everything is a simple duality with no greys or uncertainties, and you can see he's conflicted for not instinctively living up to the ideal. The demands of such a worldview are obviously unreasonable (even to him), but at the same time he's disappointed and nervous because he feels like he shouldn't have any qualms about meeting them. |

this is what i was trying to say with more insults. |
You weren't trying to say anything, because you quite clearly have nothing to say. You have made more than 100 posts here in just a couple of days without adding any kind of value. You have no personality or creativity, and serve no useful function whatsoever. Here's a bit of advice: not being the last poster in a thread is not sufficient reason to make a post. |
This is not the kind of thing we want to see in the forum dedicated to the comic. Take your pointless insults elsewhere, both of you. I thought the comic was a little bit off for Seymour as well but neither of you need to ask like prissy assholes to get your opinion across. Discuss the comic, not each others flaws regardless of how large or small they are. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

For the discussion: Yeah, Seymour is a fanboy who sometimes doubts but it seemed like this comic was a little short in showing where the conflict was. Sure he need to eat and sure he wants to keep his money for some fun stuff, even if that fun stuff is collecting Bible action figures, but the comic didn't really point out where the moral dilemma was. WoC has a great explination of what is going on, as always, but I don't think the comic made the point clear enough. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.
